gus 1 #1 March 31, 2003 Hey all, My company just installed Websense and dz.com is listed as 'Entertainment'. Well I'm not sure about that, as far as I'm concerned it's an essential part of my work day! Well anyway, we get 6 10 minute periods in which we're allowed to view blocked sites and I'm sure you'll agree that's just not enough. I had the cunning idea that I could use IE to 'synchronise' dz.com and store it offline so I could use one of my 10 minute sessions to synchronise (for example) all the threads on the first page of Talk Back, then view them offline at my leisure. Good idea, eh? But dz.com's robots.txt seems to prevent IE from synchronising anything from /cgi-bin Any ideas on how I can solve this little problem? I know that Websense is flawed and that there are other ways around it but this seemed like a nice solution. GusOutpatientsOnline.com
fudd 0 #2 March 31, 2003 Probably wont work, but try this: http://64.69.64.39/ You can try to edit your hostfile and create another name for dropzone.com by adding workrelated.com 64.69.64.39 (your host file will be located in c:\windows\ in win98. and c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\ in winnt) Correct me if my memory is failing me. Just search for a file named hosts (not host.sam!) and edit it with notepad. and then just point to workrelated.com and dz.com will pop up. Alternativly, do a google search for "public proxies" and se if that works to.... Usually there is a way around the blockades our employers set up for us.... Should work since the IP addy isn't blocked. Edit to add: OK...Works at work with Websense...

If you still want to try it this way, point your browser at: http://www.dropzone.com/forum/. Not sure if this will work for you but that's where Google and other robots go.... Jumpervint 0 #8 April 1, 2003 My school just put in Websense also. I'll have to give this a try, as I definitely need a fix every once in a while. Vint. . . . . "Make it hard again."
