Guest #1 April 2, 2003 "Gordo" (RIO) and "Vinny" (Pilot), from the Kitty Hawk, made a successful controlled feet-dry ejection after their F-14 Bombcat had engine failure on the way back from a strike, and were picked up the next morning. misskriss 0 #5 April 2, 2003 Yep.......from an email I got....and I wasn't supposed to say anything.....oh well...you guys are friends. "They were VF-154 Black Knights off the Kitty Hawk (Japan). The pilot was (name deleted) and the RIO was(namedeleted)they were in an 'A'. The early, early, early gouge (meaning it's useless ... chuckle ...) is that they were aerial re-fueling and the basket broke off and when down the right intake, obviously a catastrophic FOD and because it's an F-14A, god knows how many other systems were ripped to shreds at the same time. Anyway, they're both OK."
Guest #6 April 2, 2003 Quote they were aerial re-fueling and the basket broke off and when down the right intake, obviously a catastrophic FOD Oops - I HATE IT when that happens. There went a big chunk of the national debt, nose-down into the desert. Oh well, at least they don't appear to have had compression injuries, windblast trauma, etc., they had plenty of time to get ready to "unass the jet" and "watch the rest of the show from the cheap seats"..."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
