moodyskydiver 0 #1 April 3, 2003 I've talked to my Criminal Justice prof and she said it looks like she can get me an summer intern position at the Texas Youth Commission Juvenile Corrections Facility. I'd be working about 20 hours a week and get practicum credit hours for it. Then when the fall semester starts I can be an intern in the CJ program on campus with her supervision. This opportunity would be a really good step for my education/future career advancement. *keeping fingers crossed* Ok, thats all I had to say.Just postwhoring a bit. BoobieCootie 0 #2 April 3, 2003 Right on!Now if those juveniles give you crap, you can threaten to throw them out of the plane. And if they're good, you can invite them skydiving.

Nah, I dont think I'd want to be on a plane with these kids. (the movie ConAir comes to mind ) This isnt just a few kids caught up with the law for vandalism or shoplifting. This facility is home to those serving time for felonies (including murder, rape, arson etc) until they turn 17 or 18 when they'll then be shipped off to a state prison to finish their sentence. The facility also has a few psych units. I think this is going to be a real learning experience and initiation into the Tx Dept of Criminal Justice. "...just an earthbound misfit, I." racer42 0 #14 April 3, 2003 Be prepared. Talk to people who have spent time in these places, like councelors and such. I have spent a little time doing some volunteer work in these lockups. They can be very strerile and scary places. Good luck. It is a dirty job and somebody has to do it.
