But I think we should encourage newer or non-jumpers, for that matter, to get more into the sport, rather than call them "funny" and make them feel awkward about taking the chance to get into skydiving. Skydiving has enough trouble keeping active jumpers and getting new people into the sport...it doesnt need its more "experienced" participants, especially instructors, to scare off more people. I'm there, lately on wind/weather holds posting away on our squared away DSL connection and watching the DiscNetwork TV. Beats sitting around the house, bitching about the weather. Atleast there I can get work done. Ok, Ron, how long have you been in the sport? How many jumps did you get that first year or those first couple of years? If you had access to something like dropzone.com back then, don't you think you would have been posting away, hanging out at the virtual DZ? Now, imagine a college student, who is at computers for probably 80% of his day, studying, doing homework, goofing off, what do you think he's going to do on his study breaks, etc? Basically, the way I see what you posted is that you must have some sort of insecurity issues and you have to try to hold some sort of stupid difference over someone's head. What I have an issue with is three fold. 1. People who post...and have no idea what they are talking about.....It's not an issue here, I have never seen Zeemax post as an expert. But lots of people have with 100 jumps given opinions as experts. A lot of them DO think that having a bunch of posts makes you valuable, and your comments credable. It does not....Raw jump #'s don't either, but it is a better indication than post #'s 2. Some of the mindless posting that does happen here...My personal fav is "BOOBIES"...then the 5 posts that talk about the boobies. 3. The hijacking of threads....Which I have to say I just did quite well. All I said was something that people that DO have security issues take seriously....But is FACT. Think about it the next time you feel the need to post noise (BOOBIES!), or hijack a thread. I know that it is so much easier to post than to jump....Hell I have made 12 jumps in a day, but I think I might have made 12 posts today, and I am not nearly as tired, and I made money while I did it. Again, anyone that knows me.....Knows I go out of my way to help new people. But maybe you all will think about this the next time you feel like a mindless post....or hijacking a thread. I doubt it...I really doubt it. But I have had fun today....
