What started SARS?

How dare you expose the evil plot! May your wine come in screw-top bottles, and your food all come in boxes with "Mc" on them! Mon Dieu!

It must be an Italian disease!

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I have never had a flu shot- or seemed to get anything so bad as what I have just got over.
Always figured that it is best to build up your own bodies resistance to these "bugs

um, do you understand how vaccination works? It is using your own body's natural resistance to these bugs. That's why they inject you with dead virus or recombinant viral proteins, so that the B-lymphocytes that respond to those proteins will become activated. That's exactly what happens when you're exposed to the virus naturally, the only difference is, with a vaccination, you usually don't get sick.

Natural Evolution of Virii (too many antibiotics being used)

Although it seems to me that natural evolution and over use of anitbiotic are somewhat anti-thetical; it does capture my view that over use of antibiotics are driving our collective weakness as a species to 'comon viruses'.

Over-use or mis-use of antibiotics may lead to resistant bacteria, but how would this affect viruses??
