Guest #1 April 8, 2003 Journalists killed as US attacks Palestine Hotel in Baghdad. Seems there was small-arms fire coming from a window of the hotel. An Abrams responded with an antipersonnel round. Saw it on TV last night - there was a live feed from an Emirates crew nearby. No judgement here (aside from some more sick gallows humor on my part, which has annoyed some folks recently) but I'm sorry journalists got caught in the crossfire. Honestly, when it's that hot, maybe the basement is a safer place to be? In the heat of battle, it gets difficult to distinguish friend from foe (or neutral). I can understand a tank commander's actions when, upon observing what appears to be a "spotter" with binoculars, orders his gunner to load up AP and fire it into a hotel window. It may have just been a newsie with a camera, but why take a chance? It isn't like they didn't know what was going on...OH WAIT! The Iraqi Minister of Propaganda said...never mind. If I were them, I'd put some distance between myself and any Iraqi gov officials, none of whom are long for this world..."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
