payback462 0 #1 April 8, 2003 ok, so i was just going to forget about this and i havent said anything to anybody about it but thinking about it more and more just pisses me off. so here goes ok, so i FINALLY got around to packing for myself and got my A license (beer) on sunday. so since i finally have my A another jumper with about the same number of jumps as me asked me if i wanted to do a 2way, i said sure, (he damn near always jumps by himself) i figured id jump with him, and wed have a good time. so i asked what he wanted to do, as soon as i said that his ego went into full effect, he was like well since you just got your A ill keep it simple for you (remember he has maybe 2 or 3 more jumps than i do, and sucks just as bad as me)and ill get out first then youll follow and dock on me. so i was like cool. so we get out i swoop down, then he decides to de-arch and i go right friggin past him. and we chase each other around until breakoff. after we get down he starts telling me about how i had really bad body position and how he thinks im afraid to be aggressive, like most newbies are (it should be noted that just a week ago i almost took my rigger out when i plowed into him trying to dock so ive definetaly got the aggresive part down), so im like thinking to myself WTF?? i mean i appreciate other peoples advice, but ive only ever seen him jump with another person once since he got his A and that was a more experienced jumper. so we get packed and decide to try it again, this time on the plane were going over the details and i ask when he wanted to breakoff (assuming it was the same as the last jump 5k) and he suggests 4k, i say no because i like to high so i can play around under canopy and work on my canopy control skills. so hes says ok but im still pulling at 3, so i said fine whatever floats your boat! (it should also be noted that i can stand up my landings fairly consistanly and he cant hmmm, maybe all that extra canopy time might have something to do with it!) so anyways, we jump i dock on him fairly quickly (since he actually stayed put this time) and we chase each other around until breakoff. as were walking back he tells me that it was better and that he'll help me work on my skills next time hes at the DZ. (since you know those 3 whole jumps he has more then me make him some kinda skygod) so the point of my story is, the guy was bein a real prick, i always wondered why nobody jumped with him, i just thought it was because he normally doesnt talk to someone unless they start the conversation. but now i know why. fortunately its a very large DZ and i have no problem finding other people to jump with. damn this was a meaningless post, i cant belive i just wasted all that time on it! Tasadin 0 #2 April 8, 2003 LOL i aint been around long here but what a prat. I couldnt wait to get my FS1 so i could jump with other people. I learnt loads from jumping with a guy just off consols because we got to play around in the air together try stuff and smile at the end, everything helps right !!. Give him a chance, he will probably find a way to humble himself eventually, especially at our dz, the talent there is enormous. I don't know which person you are talking about, so I can't say whether they are suffering from terminal douche-bagedness or if you should give them another shot. And don't tell me here, you should refrain from dragging people's names through the mud on dropzone, even if they do deserve it. And another thing, speak up! When you're both a little relaxed (but not yet drunk enough to fight), let him know what you REALLY think. Then go jump with him in the morning.
