skybytch 273 #1 April 9, 2003 The itinerary - I-10 east from Riverside to Phoenix. I-17 north from Phoenix to Flagstaff. I-40 east from Flagstaff to Amarillo. 287 (?) southeast from Amarillo to Fort Worth. I-20 east from Fort Worth to Little Rock. I-40 east from Little Rock to Memphis. Return I-40 west from Memphis to Flagstaff. I-17 south from Flagstaff to Phoenix. I-10 west from Phoenix to Riverside. Seven states. Six days. 4000 + miles round trip. Friendliest people - Texas and Arkansas. People talked to me in roadside rest stops! I was shocked. Prettiest rest stop locations - Tie - Arkansas and Arizona. Every rest stop in Arkansas was tucked away in the trees, and there were stops in three beautiful locations between Flagstaff and Phoenix. Prettiest countryside - Tie between East Texas and Arkansas. Prettiest city - Tie between Fort Worth and Flagstaff. Most road work - Arkansas! Place I most wish we'd stopped - Any store in Texas that sells Shiner. Place my friend was happiest we stopped - a WalMart in El Reno, Oklahoma that had Mr. Pibb. She bought all they had - six cases. Range of gas prices paid - $1.39.9 regular unleaded in Arkansas to $2.39.9 regular unleaded at Chiriaco Summit, California. Average mpg for 2003 Ford Excursion over 4000 miles - 14.3 Biggest surprise - liking Fort Worth, Texas. Best part - seeing the terrain and color changes as we travelled both east and west. Would I do it again? Sure! But I'd like to take a few more days next time.
sunshine 2 #2 April 9, 2003 Ok, so where are the pictures?? Glad you had a good time. I'm actually surprised Arkansas had road construction. I didn't think they cared enough to improve their roads.... ___________________________________________ meow I get a Mike hug! I get a Mike hug! sinker 0 #4 April 9, 2003 If Ida known you were coming all the way to Memphis, Ida made a special trip from Nashville to meet your most exhaulted Bytchness in person (and to be honored w/ a royal bytchslap). Well, it would've really been to sneak a peek at the famous rack but.... -the artist formerly known as sinker

skybytch 273 #7 April 9, 2003 Oh yeah, forgot to mention. I met a jumper named Mike in a Cracker Barrel in Fort Worth, Texas. Didn't get his last name or find out if he posts here. Tall, slim, cute, was wearing an Icarus t-shirt (that's how I knew he was a jumper ). So anyway, Mike, if you're on here, I'm the Lisa you met last Friday at lunch...
