Guest #1 April 10, 2003 I was looking for reactions to the events in Baghdad yesterday, when I stumbled across these little chestnuts: "You are using what power you have to infringe upon my rights to free speech..." --Tim Robbins in responding to the cancellation of an event staged by the Baseball Hall of Fame. "The reason why we live in New York is we're trying to get away from the cult of celebrity." --Robbins in an August 2002 story about the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Draw your own conclusions, but I think these two could stand an attitude adjustment."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." happythoughts 0 #2 April 10, 2003 The Constitution has the right of free speech. People forget that there is the right of choice of listening too. Just because people want to talk doesn't mean anyone else has to listen to them. I try to be open minded. I listen, then evaluate. There is a lot of times when I have listened and it turns out that the other person is still wrong. Of course, when I disagree, I am accused of being closed-minded. Apparently, I am open-minded and intelligent only when I agree without thinking.
PhillyKev 0 #3 April 10, 2003 That guy's a crack pot. I think they're infringing on my rights to free speech because they didn't invite me to speak at the Academy awards or Baseball hall of fame. I guess every event that takes place that he's not invited to is violating his rights
Guest #4 April 10, 2003 Or dis-invited to, or in this case, cancelling the event itself. A symbolic gesture it is, but Hollyweird thrives on symbolism."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
