Levik 0 #1 May 27, 2012 I'm having a hard time getting the needle with supertack thread through the tab on the Icarus slink. Does anyone have a nice method or tool to do this?
riggerrob 643 #2 May 27, 2012 May I recommend a nine inch long upholstery needle? aka. "mattress needle" or "rib-stitching needle" I started using them twenty years ago and have never looked back.
JerryBaumchen 1,461 #3 May 27, 2012 Hi Levik, One other option is to start your hole with a sharp awl; see attached photo. JerryBaumchen
Deyan 36 #4 May 27, 2012 You don't have to go trough the center of the soft link tab. If you tack only the corner where the material is soft it's still good enough."My belief is that once the doctor whacks you on the butt, all guarantees are off" Jerry Baumchen

piisfish 140 #7 May 29, 2012 Slinks are a PD product. Other manufacturers have their own soft/semi-soft/textile links. Did the canopy come with PD Slinks or "Other" ? VB I believe that your Safire is a NZ Aerosport/Icarus canopy, right ? AFAIK CIMSA/Icarus canopies come on Rapide links. I am not saying I am right or trying to enter any pissing contest. I can't remember having installed a NZ canopy, and the Spanish canopies I have installed all had Rapide links.scissors beat paper, paper beat rock, rock beat wingsuit - KarlM
virgin-burner 1 #8 May 29, 2012 yup, nzaerosports. cant really tell if it was "sinks" or "rapide links" (i wouldnt know the difference), they were the textile-tab-thingies, coming from an exotic destination like honduras or the like..“Some may never live, but the crazy never die.” -Hunter S.
