wmw999 2,589 #1 April 9, 2003 Is Skymama still shitting on your porch? So how's that sweet and cute Skymama doing? earlier thread about cute babie birdies My nest is doing great; the babies are getting noisier and noisier, and the mama bird almost never flies away when I come out any more. I'm really just doing my best to increase the number of fairly vapid, non-war-related threads here! If I'd get my butt out to the DZ, I might actually be able to contribute a skydiving thread! So you had to start the thread with, "is Skymama still shitting on your porch"? What about, "how's that sweet and cute Skymama doing"? She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon

SpeedRacer 1 #7 April 10, 2003 Finally found this thread. Um, I don't know what's up with Skymama. And no, she hasn't shat on my porch, even once! She must be very well brought up. But she might not have had success with the first clutch of eggs. Most eggs don't wind up hatching, there's a high mortality rate, especially if its her first clutch. But she still sits up there & hasn't kicked out the eggs. But I don't see her feeding any babies up there, and the gestation period is supposed to be around 2 weeks, so who knows, maybe she laid some more, I don't know... All I know is she spends all her time sitting up there in her nest. I'll post pics when I get around to it. SpeedRacer 1 #8 April 11, 2003 oooh, weird thing happened tonight. Skymama was away when I came home about 5PM...didn't look up at the nest much. Then tonight about 1:30 Am I looked up (from in the kitchen) at the nest and there was an indiscriminate clump of fluffy stuff... I lifted up the curtain to get a better look and, with a grand motion, Skymama KNOCKED her left wing up against the window to scare me off. Well, it worked. I dropped the curtain & went back inside. It was late anyway, so maybe tomorrow I will see newborn chicks. or maybe I just misunderstood & there's nothing up there....we shall seee...........
