kingbunky 3 #1 April 11, 2003 two questions actually. first, is there some way to treat the hemp so it isn't so damn itchy? and second, is there a preferred direction the pin should point?"Hang on a sec, the young'uns are throwin' beer cans at a golf cart." Vallerina 2 #2 April 11, 2003 Quote first, is there some way to treat the hemp so it isn't so damn itchy? Pammi is a better person to ask this question to, but I've found that just beating the crap out of hemp (with water, soap, bending it) makes it a little more worn and not so itchy. Quote and second, is there a preferred direction the pin should point? Hasn't this been debated here, too? Pammi 0 #3 April 11, 2003 Using polished hemps help, all the little loose threads are smoothed down, but it makes it a little stiffer as well. Regardless of the hemp used, tho, it will get softer if it gets wet a few times. The only downside of that is it's a thread, so like, for instance, a t-shirt..the more often it gets wet the more 'worn' it looks too. Wear it in the shower a couple times only and it should help soften it up and smooth the 'scritchy' threads down some. I think Val's right, they've debated the way the pin points several times on here. I generally put the lobster clasp on the right side since most people are right-handed but Merrick and I don't really put the pin facing any set direction; you can just turn it over and fasten it from the left and the pin will point the other way instead if you wanted to though.
