bigben 0 #1 April 10, 2003 Unless it's really cheap and doesn't go very fast. My mate is out of town and lent me his car (so he could keep it in my garage). I've already had the back out round the corners and raced two people, and that was just tonight. It's so fast that it can outrun helicopters, didn't find any to try that with though. Sigh. I want one so bad, but I know I'll be in prison or dead in a month. -Ben

Slappie 9 #6 April 10, 2003 Quote It's so fast that it can outrun helicopters You might be able to out run a helicopter on a cloudy day. I promise you that you won't be able to out run the Motorola 2-way radio (insert whatever radio company other countries use) installed in the helicopter you just out ran. I can probably outrun an R-22 in my Escort pretty easily (in a straight line anyway). One thing I love to do in planes is fly parallel to a highway and slow way down. I always wonder what the drivers are thinking as they pass me. Dave

Great twisties in the forest. You'll be able to keep up and outrun some of the guys running their GSX-Rs and ZX-7s and such on an early Sunday morning.. Gawain 0 #16 April 11, 2003 Quote are you smoking somthing?? Did you just say a 350z could keep up with a GSX-R in the twisties?! Nope, no smokie here! Many cars, yes, many cars can keep up with, and in some cases out run a bike in the twisties. A car can pull greater g's in the turn. Cycle World and Car and Driver pitted two super-class examples against each other and the lap times were consistently slower on the bike (by a margin of several seconds). It's not inconceivable. Where the bikes pull away is in exiting the turn. In the actual turn and braking approaching the turn the bike is at a severe disadvantage. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Viking 0 #17 April 11, 2003 was the example of car a 350z or of equal performance? Also those machines were driven by very experienced people on a closed race track. Put me in my Acura with a guy of generally equal experience on a GSX-R 600 on the Ortega highway, and the only time the bike will pull away will be in the straights. Guaranteed. Edit to add: Also, advantages and handicaps are ampliphied outside of the "professional" or lab environment. Expert drivers/riders you cited versus the consumer sector -- so, in essence, you validated my point. Think of the axiom, "Any a**hole can go fast." ...
