Gawain 0 #1 April 12, 2003 This was a good man, representing a bad government. I got to see part of an interview he gave Reuters and see his departure on CNN. A gracious gentleman, an international law professor of over 30 year in Baghdad, whom I hope will find his family. So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright 'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life Make light! Michele 1 #2 April 12, 2003 I haven't had the opportunity to read/see the interview - just pulled a 13 hour day - but I do remember several days ago a sound bite which was sad, when reflected on...it was something to the effect of "I know just as much as you do, I've only seen what's on tv...I know nothing more. I haven't heard from my government for several weeks. I have no idea what's going on"....what a horrid position to leave your ambassador to the UN in... I hope he can find his family, too. diverdriver 7 #3 April 12, 2003 You know, that's one guy in the "regime" I felt sorry for. I saw the interview and there really was a genuiness (is that a word) about it. Seemed all the weight had been lifted off of him and he could just be a normal human being instead of a talking puppet for SH. I hope he does make it back ok. I think the world you're looking for is "sincerity", but I also think "diplomatic sincerity" is an oxymoron. The funny part is the questions and answers (paraphrased): Reporter: "So is the war over?" Al-Douri: "Yeah." Reporter: "Will you defect?" Al-Douri: "From what?" hehehe"The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat."
