FliegendeWolf 0 #1 April 11, 2003 So in Michigan, the skydiving season begins much later than for the rest of the country (not one word from you southerners/californians/etc. about how it's always skydiving season ). This Saturday is safety day, and I'm all nerves. I haven't jumped since October 11 and right now it really scares me to think about starting up again. Anybody else have a layer of winter rust? Any suggestions for how to deal with it?A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All

That is normal. Quote Any suggestions for how to deal with it? You are ont the right track. Knowledge dispels fear. Go to safety day. Review normal and emergency procedures with an Instructor. Inspect your gear, then have your rigger inspect it. Go easy on the dive plans. Think everything through before getting on the airplane. Go look in the airplane, do a practice ingress and climb out and exit. Seat belts, spotting, climb out, gear checks, etc. Plan your canopy flight at least as well as the free fall. the more preperation you do, the more confidence you will have to counter the butterflys. Don't jump wet 3-rings if it is freezing out and have fun. Hook

FliegendeWolf 0 #7 April 13, 2003 What a bummer...I made it to safety day and even got to hang in the harness for a little bit, but the winds were gusting too strong for me to jump today. Looks like the rust will be hangin' on for a bit longer. Still, it was nice to get back to the dz and watch others jump.A One that Isn't Cold is Scarcely a One at All
