The111 1 #1 September 20, 2007 I'm reading through the SIM studying for my long overdue D license. I'll admit there's a lot of stuff in here I didn't know. The intro to Category C of the ISP lists "hover control" as a primary objective. This phrase is never mentioned again as far as I can find. WTF is "hover control" exactly? I honestly don't know... fallrate, stability? Whatever it is, I think the wording may be a poor choice.www.WingsuitPhotos.com
monkycndo 0 #2 September 20, 2007 It's a misspelling in your ISP. It should be "Hoover" control. And your GF has it handled. 50 donations so far. Give it a try. You know you want to spank it Jump an Infinity
JohnMitchell 16 #3 September 20, 2007 Hover control- falling straight down, staying relative to the instructor, not sliding, turning, or moving up and down. The basis of all good relative work.
UDSkyJunkie 0 #4 September 21, 2007 Yeah, it's basically holding a heading and not going forward or backward. I agree it's a poor choice of words. I guess it would make more sense in the context of wind tunnels."Some people follow their dreams, others hunt them down and beat them mercilessly into submission." DSE 5 #6 September 21, 2007 You're a wingsuiter, batman....you'll never grasp the concept of hover. You actually have to master zero horizontal speed.

On my first rodeo with my girlfriend, she fell off and I managed to fly with her (freefalling) in my wingsuit. I've seen a rider on Scott Campos get off, and then get back on again later. www.WingsuitPhotos.com

It's just a short way to say falling straight down w/o moving. We always have to explain it more though. "Imagine yourself falling in an elevator shaft, you should be falling straight down the middle, not bumping into the sides." Heading maintenance and a solo pull are the other common level 3 / cat c. objectives.~D Where troubles melt like lemon drops Away above the chimney tops That's where you'll find me.
