Finally 1000

Recommended Posts

:)
It was a beautiful day, but I had to work. At noon the manager of the department came into my office and asked how many hours I had. "40 at noon" I said to which he replied "Ok, go home we don't want to pay any overtime."

I had extra clothes and shoes in the car, so I went straight to the dz.

As I pulled up I remember thinking that there were a lot of cars there for a Thursday. There were enought jumpers and tandems that although the Otter was not flying hot, it was flying frequently.

I did a 4-way that was very successful. Great exit and rotated through the points 2-3 times.

Then someone comes up and says "Hey do you want to go on someone's 100th jump?". Even that jump went well. I could already tell it was going to be a great day!

Then it was my 1000th. We were going to try a 13-way, but it looked very doubtful since we had some low time jumpers, some freeflyers, and two guys from out of town we didn't know.

The exit picture shows that things did not go as well as we hoped. One of the guys from out of town didn't get into the wind and flipped over on the base. We immediately broke and reformed and people started docking.

Mykul Poole and Trent were shooting video. Only one guy went low and didn't eventually make the formation.

After everyone broke and tracked away, Jesse, Hoop and I did 2 3-way donuts just for grins.

On the ground, I reached for a high five from Trent and got a big hug! It's great to be able to jump with my son!

Thanks for the jump guys. Hope you are all around for the 2000th!

Jim

Blue skies,

No I'm sweating the pie right now. They told me I would never know when or where

They're doing it right then!!! Congrats on a great jump. Actually, you will know when and where. Just not until them >:(

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Congrats. That is one of the coolest exit pics I've ever seen. Not from a skydivers perspective - from a whuffo's perspective. Just all the people strung together out the plane.

I'm using it as my new desktop :)

Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
