WFFC 1 #1 April 23, 2003 So this is what happens when you don't shower before balloon jumps - the 10 place balloon quickly opens up room for the remaining 8 while two are tossed over the side attached only by cheap dental floss. btw, the view were awesome...----- ~~~Michael

riddler 0 #4 April 23, 2003 That wasn't our balloon from two weekends ago, was it Michael? I know it's Longmont, but the balloon doesn't look like I remember. I was cool watching the repellers hang off the side!! They videod all our exits. They have video of me falling off backwards screaming "OH MY GOD!" Next time I'll get even further from those burners!! Hot, hot, hot! The first time in my life I wish I was shorter Trapped on the surface of a sphere. WFFC 1 #5 April 23, 2003 yep...Jeff took them from his helo. I believe you were on the second hop. Mary (on left) was taking stills as everyone left. I was just hanging out enjoying the view and everyone's exits. Robert Yoder got some decent video of Mary and I releasing as he went cruising by. riddler 0 #6 April 23, 2003 K - yes, I was on the second load. Dr. Bill and I hopped off on opposite sides at the same time. I noticed we were stopping a lot of traffic on Hover Road. Must be an interesting sight for whuffos. Seeing a hot-air balloon, noticing people hang from ropes on the sides, and then watching people chuck themselves out Edited to say - sorry to see you go! But I hope you're all settled in now and we'll see you at WFFC! Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
mountainman 0 #7 April 23, 2003 Wow, that is really awesome. I cannot wait to try that (this year in June, hopefully). Are you saying that some rapellers were hanging down below the balloon videoing the people jumping out ?!? Good times. I love the view. My mom lives in Brighton. Next time I visit, I'm bringin the rig.http://www.brandonandlaura.com
riddler 0 #8 April 23, 2003 Yea - and WFFC was one of the repellers! FlyAngel2 was another I saw the video of myself falling off, but I didn't get it firewired to my camera! Doh! Great fun, balloons! I'd like to learn a little more about normal repelling (including, maybe how to spell it?) before trying it off of a balloon though. Let us now when you come out! We will try to show you a good time. Get ready for FAST landings at altitude Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD
Zenister 0 #9 April 23, 2003 wow that looks cool...i cant wait to rappel off a balloon..lean out get an invert and exit HD man that would rock!!____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
mountainman 0 #10 April 23, 2003 Quote Let us now when you come out! We will try to show you a good time. Get ready for FAST landings at altitude I certainly will. My wife and I were out there last July, but we didn't bring our stuff for that reason. With not many jumps, I didn't feel like trying to land something that would have seemed like 2 sizes smaller. LOL But next time... we're there. http://www.brandonandlaura.com
CanuckInUSA 0 #11 April 23, 2003 LOL ... all I know is fast landings at altitude. Besides Eloy (which is what 1500 MSL), I've only ever landed at 5000 MSL or higher (not even factoring in density altitude). But what does this have to do with Balloon jumps you're likely asking? Nada ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
beavdog 0 #12 April 23, 2003 how high did you get on those jumps we only got to 5.5k at eloy over xmas, and those look much higher Here's to the Breezes that blows through the Trezzez.....
flyangel2 2 #13 April 23, 2003 Quotehow high did you get on those jumps we only got to 5.5k at eloy over xmas, and those look much higher Micheal and I started our rappel about 2,000. The other jumpers started leaving the basket about 5,000. Maybe the mountains make it look higher. Micheal and I are planning on bring ropes and harnesses to the Convention. We have some other things we want to try from the balloon. Now all we have to do is get a pilot that is willing to let us try some "different" stuff.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. Zenister 0 #14 April 23, 2003 cool i'll make sure to pack my rings and harness too!! i think it would be really cool to have 4 people inverted off the bottom of the basket and launch a flower that way ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. Phil- Try this place (http://www.rocknandjamn.com) It's where we went for coaching before we did Neil's stunt last November. After we all were comfortable, we put our rigs on to rappel with those to for the different feel. Very nice group and they thought we were nutz. BTW, ask them what they thought of Neil's video if you go.

On the second load, the repellers started climbing out at about 4,000. I went out at 5.3. Good 10 seconds free-fall - had to dump at 3.5 after seeing an open canopy at about 3. Sniveled through to about 2.5. Landed a bit east of the runway, but was careful to avoid Farmer McNasty's.Trapped on the surface of a sphere.
