Islandcool 0 #1 April 23, 2003 Blah... Odd night. I've had skydiving dreams but this is weird. I exit the Otter after someone. He is falling fast and I can't keep up. He is way below me. I decide to go head down to catch him. (btw I can't go head down in real life) I go to check my alt and I'm not wearing an altimeter. I'm shocked that I forgot but I have my audible. Then I realize I'm not wearing a helmet. I decide to watch the guy below me somehow I go right past him. I decide to deploy my main. I am very low. the lines are full of twists and I'm spinning. The nose of the canopy in diving. I'm trying to get the twist out but nothing. I'm a few hundred feet off the ground and it doesn't look good. I am remarkably calm. All of a sudden the line twist undo themselves and the main is above my head fully open. I grab the toggles and flare at the last second to a soft landing. It looks like the sun has gone down but I thought it was the middle of the day. Then I realize that everything is in black and white. There is no one around. The DZ is completely empty. I look up and I see other canopies coming down. I can hear the people on the tandem cheering and screaming in delight but they are not landing where I've landed. They are all landing off site behind the trees somewhere. I'm feeling very afraid. I then woke up. The rest of the night was shot as far as sleep. I'm not one to analyze dreams. This one was like a twilight zone episode. Anyone else have some funky dreams? Blue skies Ed
haylee 0 #2 April 23, 2003 One night a friend and I had the same dream: The two of us go up do do a 2-way - all is going well in the dive - we get to break-off and track away - we dump and look up at wads of canopy: line-over with line-twists (in both of our dreams mind you). Since we had decided to dump early (4500') we both decide to mess with the canopy to see if we can fix it. Start kicking and twisting and pulling on lines trying to find the one that has created the line-over. Keep fighting it to 2000', grab the cutaway handle, look up one last time... and there it is, a perfectly flying canopy. We both had the same dream!!! Not exact though - the canopies were different colors...Haylee

allicat 0 #4 April 24, 2003 Last night I had a very weird dream about the plane. I wasn't on the load so I was watching from the ground. The plane looked like a space shuttle for some reason. All my friends were on the load. It took off heading straight up just like a space shuttle would and then it suddenly did a 180 and came hurtling to the ground and crashed. It was a horrible dream. When I woke up afterwards I was half awake and half asleep and I remember thinking to myself that I will never fly or skydive again - and I meant it. Of course that's not true, I'm going this afetrnoon, but at the time I felt so strongly about it - you know how dreams are. That was the first bad skydiving dream I've had. dropdeded 0 #5 April 24, 2003 Had my second skydiving dream a few nights ago.First one I watched a guy bounce,it was awful.Couple nights ago I dreamt I was on the ground waiting for the next load and watching three guys in freefall(from the ground). Two guys deployed fine but the third was in a hard track, all the way down.He hit the runway HARD,I could hear an awful noise when he hit.I remember feeling devisted and then I realized it was a life-like test dummy.Man,big time relief. Way,way strange feelings. dropdeded------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -
redtwiga 0 #6 April 24, 2003 I've had tons of skydiving dreams from the first time I jumped in 1998. The most recent series invloved a pilot chute in tow, really hard cutaway, and not enough wind tension to get the reserve to fully inflate. I simply wasn't falling fast enough. However the partially opened reserve was enough to slow my decent, so I cupped as hard as I could and tracked in to a sweet soft landing on my belly. If only!
