lawrocket 3 #1 April 25, 2003 IMO, Being from Southern California, I catch a lot of hell for my love of hockey. I wasn't raised on it, and LA really is not a hockey town. I say I'm a Kings fan, they think I mean "sacramento" Last night, everybody else seemed to be about the Lakers, and could not understand why, at 10:30 last night, we few erupted into cheers as the Ducks scored in the fifth overtime. I'll watch NBA playoffs, and sometimes even pay attention. But nothing compares to the Stanley Cup playoffs, even after Commissioner Bettman tried to "NBA-ize" the NHL. The Stanley Cup means more to hockey players than a Super Bowl means to football players, than the World Series to baseball players, or the Winston Cup to Car racers. Last night, for 5 overtimes, two groups of mens skated their hearts out, every shift. We saw two groups of Kellen Winslows (remember that NFL Playoff game in 82?) who gave their all. NHL Playoffs have an unequaled intensity. I'm sure that to many people other than me, this is still hockey season. Go Ducks (I'd rather be saying GO KINGS!). My wife is hotter than your wife. PhillyKev 0 #4 April 25, 2003 Went to the bar to watch the Flyers in game one of round one a couple weeks ago. Got in an argument with some jerkass because he was upset that I got the bartender to change channels to the hockey playoffs from a Phillies game. Hmmm, let's see, game 9 of a 3256 game season of baseball...or the playoffs. He ended up stiffing the bartending for his tab and leaving all pissed off.
