NewGuy 0 #27 April 25, 2003 Quote and let's all try to remember the "no personal attacks" rule. Yeah, just attack an entire nation of people instead. Quote "it's like the US, only better." Ok, let me explain. In Canada we have two types of people: there are hosers and all the rest are hosers. You've encountered the "hosers." The hosers have it wrong. It should be "it's not like the US, and it is better." Cuz, after living in other countries, I've realized, that wherever I live, it is better. You can see, I definitely fall in the second category of Canadians and not in the first.Cheers, NewGuy
riddler 0 #28 April 25, 2003 Quote Yeah, just attack an entire nation of people instead. We have quite clearly delineated that it is perfectly OK to attack an entire group of any nature. It's the personal stuff we don't tolerate Geez - can I hear from some Americans now??Trapped on the surface of a sphere. XKCD

AndyMan 7 #30 April 25, 2003 One of the things that I've discovered as I've travelled in Canada, the US, and a big part of the world, is that Canadians almost always have a deep and meaningfull understanding of what exists outiside their borders, and that Americans rarely have the slightest clue about other nationalities, apart from the stereotypes. One time as I travelled through Los Angeles, I met an otherwise intelligent, educated professional who honestly asked me if Canada has paved roads. The ignorance I've encountered is astounding. What you need to understand is that the Canadian culture is one of the most introspective cultures on the face of the earth. Moreover, they are acutely aware of the fact that they live within a small continent as well as a global society. Canadians spend an entirely unhealthy amount of time pondering their relationship between them and their Southern neighbours. Conversely, many Americans are not only unaware of what goes outside their own backyard, many simply do not care about what goes on in the rest of the world. If you really do hate Canadians because they think they've got a better idea, I'd wonder what insecurities these feelings are rooted in. I mean, Canada is obviously insiginificant to most Americans, given the attention given them. Why do you care? Is it even remotely possible that they might just have a better idea? _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

Iflyme 0 #32 April 25, 2003 I love Canada 'cause it's the best place on the planet! We've got both Olympic Gold medals in hockey, and I skydive 12 months of the year. QuoteEvery time I talk to them about Canada, the first thing they say is always "it's like the US, only better." I think that is because many Americans (present company excluded, of course) have a egocentric view of the world -- and know very little about what goes on outside their borders. But I personally would NEVER say Canada is like the USA. It's not!!! But let's face it. Our countries are best friends, and should stay that way!
