CrazyIvan 0 #2 April 26, 2003 WinXP allows you to save in different formats, but, you can save them ass BMP and then convert them to JPG, go to www.hotfiles.com to download a pic viewer/converter in case you don't have one__________________________________________ Blue Skies and May the Force be with you. hooked 0 #5 April 26, 2003 This may seem odd, but if you know the pic is a jpeg but will only save as a bitmap try this first--empty your temporary internet files, then go back and see if, when you save the pic it saves as jpeg. This solved the problem I had, but it took me and a tech support a long time to figure it out! So now, whenever I go to save a pic and it will only save as bitmap, and I know it is jpeg, I go empty my temp folder. airtwardo 7 #8 April 26, 2003 A bit off the subject but you guys seem to know... I want to create a promotional type poster thingy... What format would be best to save the final product on disc to to take to Kinkos? I've heard 'tiff' and bitmap...my fellow neophyte at Kinkos give me a solid "I DUNNO" ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

jceman 1 #10 April 26, 2003 QuoteJPG, is smaller Negative, Ghostrider. Any print shop worth is't stuff will at the very least convert it to TIFF for printing. If you can provide a TIFF with high res, you can save a lot of hassle, i.e. time & money. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. bodypilot90 0 #11 April 27, 2003 lol I just got this e mail about xp Quote One of our readers wrote this week with two seemingly unrelated problems. He mentioned that with XP, his Internet Explorer web browser was exhibiting some strange and annoying behavior. First, he was no longer able to view the HTML source code by selecting View Source from the right context menu or the View menu. The only way he could look at the code was to save the page as an HTML document and then open it in Notepad. This is not an uncommon problem, and there are several possible reasons for it. One thing that will cause this is if Notepad has been uninstalled, but that obviously wasn't the case since he was using Notepad to open the HTML documents he saved. The same thing can happen if notepad has been moved to other than the default location (in the windows\system32 folder) or if the path has been overwritten - as sometimes happens when certain software programs are installed. However, the most common cause of this problem is a web cache that's too big. Strangely enough, emptying the cache will often fix this problem. To do so, select Tools | Internet Options | General tab, and click the Delete Files button under Temporary Internet Files. That will clear your cache. This often works to bring back your ability to use the View Source feature. My reader's second question convinced me that this last possibility was the most likely suspect. He said that when he tried to save a picture on a web page by right clicking it, he only got the option to save as a bitmap (.bmp), not as a .jpg or .gif. Lo and behold, that problem is also commonly caused by a full web cache. To avoid this problem, you may need to empty your cache at least weekly if you do a lot of web surfing. If you don't want to have to remember, you can automate this process. Just go to Tools | Internet Options | Advanced tab, and scroll down to the Security section. Check the box that says Empty Temporary Internet Files folder when browser is closed. Then each time you close the browser, the cache will be cleared. Hope this helps any of you who are having this problem.
hooked 0 #12 April 27, 2003 Geesh! I first encountered the problem years ago, and everywhere I turned for help, couldn't help! By a slow process of elimination, with tech support, we found the 'fix'. Several sites I had gone to for help were anxious to post the 'fix' for others having the same problem. Now it seems as though it is more widely known!
