Numbers for January 2003

Recommended Posts

A different spin on the "weekly numbers" game. Being in sales, I am consistently forecasting in terms of months and quarters. YTD performance, etc.

Last year, I did about 120 jumps, which works out to 10 jumps per month.

This year, my goal (self-assigned quota) is 240 jumps, or 20 jumps per month. A difficult goal for me (especially if this economy doesn't turn around).

So, in January it turns out I did 20 jumps. Which brings me to 100% YTD goal, and 100% on target annually so far. The best thing about this is, if I don't make my quota on this, I won't get fired. :D

Or, in our traditional way, for January I figure 20:2 (jumps:cases of beer).... :S

So, what's your goal? Are you reaching that goal?
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Interesting.

The abitrary goal I've set for myself is to make 200 jumps this year by the last day of summer, ~Sept. 21. So, that's 200/9.66, or about 20.7 jumps a month.

In Jan., I made 8. I'd better get cracking.

16:2 Not a lot, but I managed 247 jumps last year. This year I'll probably do the same or more, depending on how busy the school gets. BTW, my beer has already been placed on the picnic tables. I hope you are there Saturday with your beer.

My goal - finish student progression, register 50 freefalls by August 1st, jump own gear by August 1st, go to WFFC on August 1st.

January #s: [:/]

But the season starts on February 15th. The planes, the planes are calling... B|

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

Ahhh.... Life on the east coast..

I made exactly ZERO jumps in January.
I made exactly ZERO jumps in December.
I think I made about 15 jumps in November.

Damn weather.

I managed 36 in Eloy for Dec 26-Jan 2. 3 at z Hills in Jan and one last Sat. My goal is 20 a month. I hope to hit 400 in Perris and 500 before the end of the season. Deuce has promised to hang off the end of the Skyvan with me so that is a must and then I've joined a 4 way team so lots of stuff will be devoted to that. I also plan to make some road trips and meet some really neat new people.

My goals this year are to get my Coach rating, and my D ticket by September. (I'm not as concerned about the D, though.) The sheer number of jumps I do I'm not to concerned about, as long as I learn, and my skills improve, so I can be the best coach I can be. If I can get my D by the end of September, cool, if not, no biggie, the sky isn't going anywhere.

I think it would be very cool to get my Tandem rating by the time my daughter, Sarah (Child # 2 of 3) turns 18 so I can take her on her first skydive. That would be June 21, 2005. Think that's a reasonable goal?

This is cool. I also have a goal of getting in 200 jumps this year - I figure if I can average 20 per month, I'll make it with room to spare.

Unfortunately, I only got 6 in for January. And it's looking like the first half of Feb may be weathered out as well.

I'll just have to make up for it at boogies :)

Hmmm.. made 21 in January.
Goal is to make 52 more than last year, so I can say I made a 1000 in one year. Don't hate me. B|

My goal is D by September and coach rating by end of year.

Jumps made in January: 9

Which means, I need to make 141 more jumps before the end of September which averages out to 17.625 jumps a month. Arg! :S Oh, well...as long as I keep learning and progressing in my skills, if I don't meet my goals for this year, it's all good.

This thread got me seriously thinking about my future goals in skydiving. While I don't make my living from it, and I can only do it when duty doesn't call, I think I came up with some realistic goals for this year.

Finish Coaches Course this coming weekend.

Get some kind of rating before next year. Right now, I'm thinking Tandem. I need 78 more jumps before June. I can probably do it as long as the sky stays clear. Temperatures really don't matter to me.

Here's how I think it works out. I need at least 6 jumps per weekend to make my goal. Figure in 2 to 4 weekends down due to weather, I need 8 jumps per weekend.

I also have some other goals this year.

1. Get four people together this year to participate in a local four way competition in November.

2. Learn some CrW. we are trying to bring CrW together at our DZ. Goal is to get a four stack. One Cessna all CrW.

3. Get a rating (tandem) maybe S/L JM.

4. Complete new Hangar and DZ facilities complete with full service one stop vid room.

So far here are my numbers:

November 2002: 19 jumps
December 2002: 6 jumps (slow month w/holidays)
January 2003: 9 Jumps
Febuary 2003: so far 4 jumps.

I have some goals, some which are doable, and some which are not necessarily doable...and I am not sure which is which. :S

1. To have 75 jumps by my birthday in May (8.66 jumps per month...)
2. To finally get all my gear together by the end of the year.
3. To have over 100 jumps by the end of the year
4. To go to one boogie away from Perris/Elsinore (but a small one).
5. To get my B license sometime soon...

Well I managed to do 17 jumps in January far below what I would have liked to do had the weather cooperated more and had I not had to be working on some weekend days. But considering I live in Colorado, 17 jumps isn't too bad for January (especially since the DZs are only open on weekends at this time of year). I like the idea of trying to make 20-40 jumps per month, as a 200+ jump year is pretty good for someone who works in the Whuffo world.

So here are some of my goals for the coming months.

1) Have fun skydiving and manage to not hurt or kill myself.

2) Become a better canopy pilot than what I am today.

3) Become a better freeflier than what I am today.

4) Get my 200 jumps in before September 2003 to obtain my "D" License (which shouldn't be a problem since I'm only 48 jumps include my two night jumps away from that goal).

5) Attend the WFFC in Rantoul.

6) Visit some other kick ass DZs, like Perris.

7) Attend the Lost Praire and Couch Freaks boogies.

8) And how can I forget, attend the Eloy 2003 x-mas boogie.

9) Maybe meet a skygoddess who will set me straight.

everything else will just be gravy ... :$
