Official Report Freefly Hol

That's some scary yet very informative stuff Bryan wrote. I always collapse my slider and bring it down past the slinks towards the base of my risers (usually behind my head), but I didn't know that the possibility of something so nasty could happen if the slider was positioned where Bryan speaks of. It makes sense though.

Blue Skies Holly ... we're going to miss you but not forget the good vibes you gave all of us.

Just a side note...maybe something for everyone to think about. If you haven't learned how to fly and land your rear risers please do so. Remember that the kill lines on your slider are also something that need attention, you don't want those wrapped around your steering lines.

Wow, that's a possibility I never even considered. Looks like even her death is highly meaningful. Lets honor her memory by being doubly careful out there.

Skydiving is easy. All you have to do is relax while plummetting at 120 mph from 10,000' with nothing but some nylon and webbing to save you.

one thing I can say...if yoose a toggle and its not trapped through your ring..... you better know how to rear riser your landing

edit:

while on the subject of sliders, can we talk about the extra line stowage when you collapse your slider.
I wanted to tell everyone to wrap their extra lines before they wrap your steering lines!

Thanks for posting it, Betsy.

Fly free, Holly.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

I think it's "if you lose a toggle and it's not trapped through a ring"

i.e. if there's nothing holding the toggle line, it'll fly back from the trailing edge of the canopy. If you don't have really really long arms, you'll have to land on risers.

yea I thought I worded it funky! my bad

if you dont have your brake lines running through the ring on your risers and you loose the toggle(slipe from your hand) you could be in trouble if you cant or never tried to land on rear risers.....

ooh, damn. [:/] I chopped my then diablo when I had a toggle entagled with my slider. I had full range in my left toggle but I could only use my back risers for a couple of meeger inches. fortunately though it was shortly after opening that I determined I didn't want to land it.
