ChasingBlueSky 0 #26 May 2, 2003 When the ball was first on, it wasn't poser stuff - it wasn't until the last couple years of the show they started to do that. During that program, Ricky was saying how he hated having to push some of those bands that MTV was calling metal - but he had to do it to keep his job. There were a few of those bands that he treated poorly on the air and they even showed a few clips of it._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Zenister 0 #27 May 2, 2003 oh comeon Ricky is the definition of poser... the only time he was any good was when he was to stupid to realize the band he was interviewing were mocking HIM... the look on lemmy's face was priceless "why am i talking to this git??" Headbangers ball was pretty much always shit..if you were lucky you would get one or two good video a night otherwise it was simply a repeat of the radio trash they were being paid to promote.. the heaviest thing they ever played was "March of the SOD" during the opening credits..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. ChasingBlueSky 0 #28 May 2, 2003 The Lemmy interview was instant classic for me and my friends. True Ricky was a poser, but it was the closest thing we had in the 80's that would play anything close to metal. At least we had a low-wattage radio station in Chicago that played all the good stuff._________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Zenister 0 #29 May 2, 2003 oh i admit i ALWAYS watched HB when it was on..usually with the sound down and a tape in the VCR just in case they ran Silent Cries -Fates W, Over the Wall -Testament, People of the Lie -Kreator, Maked Jackel -Coroner wonder how many hours of my life i wasted sifting thru the the flavor of the month vids just for that 2 min of real metal... all the really dedicated metal that was going on at the same time MTV was playing up pretty boy hair bands like Cinderella and Motley Crue..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. ChasingBlueSky 0 #30 May 2, 2003 I couldn't tape it since my family didn't get a VCR until after I moved out of the house. Always found that strange - first on the block in the 80's to get cable, but never anything else. So on the nights I was allowed to stay up and watch it - I did. Testament? Wow....now I need to go find those old tapes. Haven't listened to them in years. Same with Suicidal Tendancies. Oh yea - you forgot to mention Queensryche early video's as well!_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
