Can you guess?

As a followup on this poll, I figured I'd announce what my decision has been.

I've done the cost and quality of living analysis of the above states and others that I haven't had the opportunity to visit (yet), but I did make a decision. So....what did I decide?

Here's some pros/cons....

Wisconsin

Pros
1. Familiar territory - I know where the grocery store is
2. Home DZ
3. Friends and family

Cons
1. Winter

Texas

Pros
1. Longer skydiving season
2. Longer motorcycle riding season
3. Skydiving friends

Cons
1. No job (yet)
2. Where's the grocery store? :S

California

Pros
1. Longer skydiving season
2. Longer motorcycle riding season
3. Skydiving friends

Cons
1. No job (yet)
2. Where's the grocery store? :S

If those were my only choices, I'd chose CA first (but you never mentioned where in CA or TX). Also, you didn't include crowded highways and earthquakes as CA cons and what about TX's humid weather or tornado possibilities. Of course I'm a little bias to CO, but the front range isn't the cheapest place to live (I do get to jump all 12 months of the year here). So given your choices, my vote is still with CA. :P

Ah....should have mentioned it.

California would be southern California between LA / Orange County / San Diego.

Texas would be Houston / Dallas / Austin / San Antonio area.

From a skydiving point of view, you're likely better off in southern CA. But I'm not sure how you'll do with the nasty traffic in that part of the world.

I've heard that Austin is really nice but they've got traffic issues as well (my company and an Austin company just merged and I may get a chance to visit Austin in the not too distant future). I've heard that Houston sucks and that Dallas is not that bad and I don't know squat about San Antonio.

Once again, based on your choices, my vote is southern CA, but what do I know? :)

LOL, thats over3/4 of the state.:D Hopefully you chose TX. Lots of DZ's within that range, good climate, lots of job opportunities, and REALLY cool peopleB|

My vote is for Austin, Texas. It's cosmopolitan, there's lots to do and the weather is good in comparison with Wisconsin. Cali would be my last choice for a number of quality-of-life reasons, and I used to live in Westwood/Los Angeles. Wisconsin is, well you know better than I do, "God's Country."

TEXAS! Come to Texas! If you move to one of the big 3 I can help you with finding the grocery story, since I know my way around all three of them.B|

Although Dallas area or Houston area would be your best bet for DZ availability/number of close turbine (and non-turbine) DZs.

But then you've got to deal with all the freaks. That's one of the cool things about Texas, we rounded up all the freaks and put them in one town so normal folks could live a normal life in their part of Texas...:P>:(

Well, my tendency is to say that you chose California, but personally I think you should choose Texas. Houston doesn't suck nearly as much as Dallas does, and San Antonio and Austin are both great.

Humidity is really good for your skin, too. Keeps you looking younger for years. Cost of living is low, and the job market, while not awesome, is certainly hopping.
