jfields 0 #1 May 6, 2003 Okay, folks. Time to weigh in on "Reality TV" in general.
 indyz 1 #2 May 6, 2003 I like Cops. One of very few "reality" TV shows that is actually real. I also like Survivor, but I have no illusions that it's any more real than a soap opera. I like to check out Fear Factor once in a while - some of the stunts they design look like a lot of fun. And it's fun watching people try to eat all that wretched, horrible shit. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court."
 quade 4 #8 May 6, 2003 I've said it before and I'll say it again, "Survivor" is one of the best shows that has ever been on television. The production values are incredible. Sets, locations, special systems cameras, environmental issues and it just goes on and on. I'd watch it just for that alone, but the social interaction aspect makes it even more incredible. It looks like a game, but it's usually really about personal discovery. The ONLY other show that even comes close is also by Mark Burnette, but it's only shown as a special on cable -- "Eco-Challenge". Burnette is a freekin' genius. Everything else in reality television is just crap.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
 happythoughts 0 #9 May 6, 2003 I met some people during the taping of the MTV Road Rules and Real World stuff. They are kids who visit interesting places, do interesting things when they get there, and then whine about their "problems". Their life would be my definition of a vacation. Not much "reality" in reality tv.
 jfields 0 #10 May 6, 2003 Quote Everything else in reality television is just crap. A little copy editing.... I like to watch the group dynamics and I've learned alot about "alliances" and have actually applied these theories to work! So far, I've not been "voted off the island." I also watch MTV's (un)Real World, reminds me when I was more clueless (I'm still pretty clueless) and could drink all night long. I usually end up watching this plopping on the couch recovering from a hangover. Fear Factor used to rock, but now it seems they're just remaking the same stunts. Although the couples Fear Factor was really cool. Especially when the unmarried guys couldn't free their women from the box underwater and the girlfriends lost faith and bailed on them early. Hmmm, but the married couples had no problem getting that stunt done... And let's not forget THE OSBOURNES! The first season was just plain brilliant! LA* Is a chicken omelette redundant? THey are offered rewards for things I'd pay to do! No shit. You have some weepy whiney idiots describing how difficult it is to overcome their fears and do some stunt, with professional safety people making sure the whole thing is fine. Like you, I'd pay money to them to be able to try the stunts. Some of them are cool. My wife is a big fan, so sometimes I get sucked in while she is watching, because I want to be with her. Ah, the things we endure for our S.O.'s.
 JJohnson 0 #16 May 7, 2003 The most stupid shit on TV, won't watch any of it.
