24Hrs of air traffic over USA

Recommended Posts

Thought I would share this bit of animation for you folks. I thought it was quite amazing. From NASA, a stunning time-lapse video showing the air-traffic over the Continental US in a 24h period.

That, is one really huge freekin' movie.

I have a great internet connection here at work and it's taking forever to download.

Hey Quade, you got Quicktime, right? Can you resize that bad boy or just crop it and repost it ? It's only 13.5 MB. C'mon guys on dialup - get with the times ;);) Heard of DSL or Cable modems ?

Heh, I love my connection at work and my web host... a 13.5 MB file took only 8 seconds to upload to my FTP server

heheh.. I suppose that 8 seconds my ass isn't really the best way to end a post. Especially if your talking to someone named Cornholio :D:D:$

LOL!!! Good one! Try to get it from my mirror that I posted above. It is much quicker. Will this make you feel better ?

The scary thing is that's probably only aircraft on IFR flight plans. I dunno if I'd like to see that same thing for all planes in the air. Would be cool if they could make something like that that allowed you to zoom in on a certain area. I'd love to get an idea of the VFR traffic in the DC area these days. We're ALL talking to ATC (stoopit war-induced rule) so it sure sounds like a lot of us... even though its far fewer than it was before the new rules went into affect.

There was a site that showed anything with a transponder flying around (I think) LA. In fact, I'm pretty sure I got the link to that from here.

If you can figgure out how to get it out here to my neck of the woods, I'll be a happy, happy man! The DZ sucks it up with the dial up for now.
