gatorbait 1 #26 May 9, 2003 In that case no, but to me physical apperance matters somewhat. However, when I met my husband, even though he was atteactive he didn't appear attractive b/c of his "asshole air", not until he cam down to earth and asked me out in a very gentlemanly way, did I give him a second thought. 6 months later we were married, that was 5 years ago. We have a great relationship & are best friends. But to me looks are only skin deep, but it is also the thing that first makes you notice a person. However if this lady is someone you have clicked with already & you know shes a really nice person, then it shouldn't matter. And unfortunately there are people who go on looks alone, for what ever reason, that don't go past the cover of the book.
dgskydive 0 #27 May 9, 2003 That is a hard question. I would like to think that I would go with the inner beauty but I don't know if I could. I have dated plenty of beautiful women over the years and have learned the hard way that beauty is truly only skin deep. I guess I'm just glad that I have not been in that position. If your friend is truly a beautiful person inside and out. I would like to believe that they will find someone who is not as shallow as most of us. That would definately be a realationship formed out of true love.Dom
QuickDraw 0 #28 May 9, 2003 I was talking about this stuff a few weeks ago with a friend, because i have my own opinion on this subject. I believe that when people see a physical difference, instinct above all starts kicking in, "freaks" of nature and the such are usually harshly dealt with in the animal kingdom. Having said that we all have our scars & differences, only ours sometimes are not that subtle or obvious. In answer to your question though, i think its a sliding scale, people can "see" through the smoke, but often peer/social pressures tend to dull any enthusiasm, and everyone wants to be accepted too....right ? ..so what do you do ?? .....fuck em all, a friend is a friend, is a friend, the more the merrier, and in a sport where the likelihood of a bad day can leave you in a wheelchair for good, preconceptions go out of the window here. She must be a very brave girl. -- Hope you don't die. -- I'm fucking winning
