scottMO 0 #1 April 3, 2012 I'm looking for a digital altimeter but with specific wants: It only displays the altitude in thousands/hundreds. I dont want the feet, (I want the altitude of 10,500 to display as 10.5). I dont need extras suck as logbook and dont want an "airplane" mode that displays other things, etc, just a plain altimeter that shows 0.0 at take off, 5.0 at 5000ft and 14.0 at exit altitude, etc. I currently have one of the older Digitudes and was looking for something that does the same thing (and only that), but just a little smaller and newer. Visio- shows the feet neptune 2,3- has all the extras. is thewre a way to turn off the other "modes" and just have the altitude displayed full time? other options? Just put it on Alti mode during the climb and dont touch it. It will stay in that display the entire time until you change it back. Also, you can disable logbook and functions like that."I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Do the Nep 2's, 3's display just the thousands/hundreds for altitude mode?
theonlyski 8 #4 April 3, 2012 They will go to a 4 digit display under canopy. 3500' etc"I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

I don't think there's an override for it. It's so you can get pretty precise when you get down to pattern altitude, as opposed to just saying .5 for 500-599'"I may be a dirty pirate hooker...but I'm not about to go stand on the corner." iluvtofly DPH -7, TDS 578, Muff 5153, SCR 14890 I'm an asshole, and I approve this message

Just curious. cause I like the big numbers on the current one I have but I figured there was somethig that offered the same thing, but just newer. If you are adding 1-2 more numbers to the display, then the numbers have to start gettign smaller. Call old school or just old, but when did we start needing to know the exact altitide to make our pattern turns at? did this start with hook turns? Am I at "0.7" altitude or 651ft? Am I at 0.6 altitude or 649ft? I'm just not seeing where this exact knowledge/detail is needed/necessary. Are people using the feet markings to flare?? j/k

With no decrease in size or display, I cant see any reason not to have the 4 digit display.
