Islandcool 0 #1 May 13, 2003 will get to enjoy skydiving without glasses. I made 6 jumps without my perscription glasses and it was great. Better depth prescription on my landings also. My eyesight isn't that bad but I have astigmatism. I was worried about it at first but I saw this guy at my DZ with thicker lenses than mine and he took them off just before he went out the door. He doesn't have any problems so I gave it a shot. For those who do wear glasses but jump without them have you ever run into a problem? Ed
prepheckt 0 #2 May 13, 2003 No, due to my glasses/helmet committing suicide on a jump, I had to do it for a whole week. It was nice. I got along with out them..it took a few jumps to adjust to them...but then it was all good."Dancing Argentine Tango is like doing calculus with your feet." -9 toes

The glasses and helmet were very unhappy and had been suicidal for sometime. I hope you were able to get closure on the matter. My condolences.... IT'S PEANUT BUTTAH JELLY TIME!!!! indyz 1 #5 May 13, 2003 I also have astigmatism, and a moderate prescription. I'm confident that I could walk away from a landing without my glasses, I don't want to try it. Same thing with driving. I could probably get to work without my glasses, but I'm not particularly interested in doing it for real.

I was looking into Rx goggles but it was difficult to get my prescription. I was pretty limited to certain styles and of course the cost. Ed
pilotdave 0 #7 May 13, 2003 Hehe, without glasses I'd be lucky to see that big planet thing coming toward me. I'd be the guy that flares when the leash goes slack. Dave

Well, for safety's sake you probably ought to only deploy the string after you have a good opening . With the quality of my eyes, I do everything to avoid jumping without my glasses. But with those bells, who knows, I might give it a try . Driving without them would be kinnof suicide Don't underestimate your ability to screw up!
bch7773 0 #12 May 13, 2003 I jump without my glasses, and I have 20/40 vision, which isn't bad, but I wouldn't drive without my glasses on. I really haven't had a problem with depth perception, but I since I can't usually see the wind flag till about 800 feet, I just land in the same direction as the first guy down MB 3528, RB 1182

divingduck 0 #17 May 13, 2003 no contacts? I find that if I wear goggles with contacts, they aren't that bad at all. But if you have a bad history with contacts, then I guess it's all about the glasses. Just make sure they aren't suicidal If I loved you anymore I would have a stroke
