>>Odyssey Giro, or ACS (Pro)Rotor?<<

Definitely the Odyssey. The ACS system gives a really mushy feel (at least it did in 1989).

>>Brakes<<

Dia Compe MX-901 (I was a purist)

>>Pedals<<

Shimano for freestyle. Bearclaws will tear you up doing tricks. I broke a Hutch spindle one time, and wound up buying the heavier ACS Beartrap pedals, which I loved. I still have a scar from my Urchin cages.

>>wheels<<

72 spoke Peregrine for freestyle, 36 spoke Araya rims on Hutch magnesium hubs for racing. The early Hutch hubs absolutely rocked the house, but then Hutch came out with "Hutch Pro Series" (I think that was the name) components that were not as top of the line. The early Hutch stuff was awesome.

OK - back at you -

Cranks? Diamond Back, Redline, or Pro Something (that is what I had - they were only big in the South).

>>I also like the GT 3-piece w/ 2 bolts on each arm (if I could remember the name). <<

No such thing when I left the sport. I am still trying to remember what my cranks were called. I bought them instead of the Flites because they had sealed bearings and they were available in 185, while Flites were only in 170, 175 and 180 (I'm tall). I may have to call my parents and have them look at the bike.

What are these GTs that you speak of? Wanna sell a bike?

Sure I do. But you may be better off with some on ebay. They are in better condition and would be easier to get shipped. Mine are still together, but not in the best condition. I rode them ragged as a kid. They aren't the prettiestB|

I currently own a Volume Destroyer which is a great all-around bike. It is long, sleek, and reasonably light. I don't run four pegs because flatland isn't my primary gig, but I do run two on one side for grinds. I have some very basic flatland tricks which I can perform with the two pegs I have. I agree that setting up a street/ramp bike for flatland is better than flatland bike setup for street/ramp. Honestly if it's 20" with two wheels, it'll be plenty fun to ride!

I had a GT Pro Freestyle Tour. A neon pink one too.:$

And if you guessed Martin Aparijo as one of my favorite riders... Ding ding ding. We have a winner.:D Though my all time favorite was Ron Wilkerson who now I guess owns 2-Hip bikes.

Back to the Pro Freestyle Tour. As much as it's 100% 4130 chromoly, the metal is soft[:/]. Especially where the hub nuts go, you could squeaz the plates a new shape.

Marin Aparijo was the bomb, I watched him and the other GT guys do a demo at Knott's Berry Farm in ...198? And his Hair kicked ass! I would love to have a pink Pro Freestyle Tour, or a GT blue Pro Performer. Where did all of those old bikes go?
...FUN FOR ALL!

2-Hip Bikes owner Ron Wilkerson is still around. He puts on the "Meet the street" contest every year in San Francisco. Very popular among the pro's as it is a laid back event, compared to the heavily publicised X-games and gravity games. He's actually got some really good bikes too!
Most bike manufacturers now are rider owned and operated, which makes me feel much better about spending a little bit more on a high end setup.
Just about all bmx bike manufactures today have increased the thickness of the dropouts (aka rear hub plate). I think that was a common failure on heavily beaten freestyle frames. I remember one time I landed 270 off a launch ramp and my front wheel was probably 10-15 degrees out of true because the front dropout was badly tweaked. They are in the 3/8" thick range now!

Aaahh yes... Dropouts;) And most certainly the welding too. Their a lot thicker around the joints that take the most stress like the top tube.

I remember cracking the top tube of my PFT while attempting to learn a "wall ride" - right when "street" was introduced.

I even had a Bully (made by RL Osborne after he left Redline to start his own co). It had a bash guard complete with the replaceable nylon grind plate thingy below the chainwheel.B|

edit: I think Matt Hoffman has his own bike co too if I'm not mistaken

Bully Bikes! Matt (Mat) Hoffman owns Hoffman Bikes (appropriately named). As a matter of fact, I had the Hoffman Codor which is his signature bike.
I actually have a video that has him BASE jumping a bridge into some freezing river in what appears to be the dead of winter. In that same video there is some footage of John Vincent "testing" some of Hoffman's bikes of a LARGE Norwegian fjord (BASE rig tested). Bikes failed terribly. He also BASE jumps the inside of a dome frequented by the super bowl. Pretty insane!

As in PK Ripper? The one and only all-aluminium freestyle bike that could take a beating?

That is one very awesome bike. And look: http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiurl=http%3A%2F%2Fcgi.ebay.com%2Fws%2F&krd=1&from=R8&MfcISAPICommand=GetResult&ht=1&SortProperty=MetaEndSort&query=PK+%2B+ripper You might just be able to buy one back.

edit: And look! My old bike:o
