Guest #1 May 16, 2003 Here's a sudden development that I thought I'd throw out to the dz.com gang for ideas. In the course of my preparations for my trip to Cali next week, I learned that my younger brother (age 28) now lives in San Diego. Up until now, I thought he was living in Austin. I have of course arranged to meet him while I'm at Perris. I haven't seen him in ages, and he's also engaged. Here's the deal - I want to buy a tandem for him at Perris (he's never jumped before) and lurk it, etc. Any ideas on how best to make this happen? Right now, we're agreed to meet at Perris Saturday evening the 24th of May, and although he of course knows I skydive, he doesn't know about this plan."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Remster 30 #3 May 16, 2003 I guess with a sibling, its not the same, but I would never try and coax someone to jump… I’ve always told friends who wanted to try to just do it and stop saying the wanted to…. But have also always said, its not for every one…. But I’m sure you know your brother well enough to make that call (then again, you didn’t know where he lived! Bad bad bad brother… Remster

If he doesn't (and I certainly wouldn't cajole, wheedle or otherwise harangue him into doing it), I'll be out the non-refundable $50 deposit at Perris."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." jwilson 0 #5 May 16, 2003 you could always just ask him if he has any interest in making a jump. If he says yes then you could be fairly sure he would appreciate your most generous gift.

I don't want to drop that on him until we've had a chance to get re-acquainted. The best plan would be to have a slot reserved, then offer it to him, and if he declines, no feelings are hurt, but I'm not out $50."The mouse does not know life until it is in the mouth of the cat." Maybe Perris would go for an arrangement where they would allow you to jump the $50 if he declines?
Guest #8 May 16, 2003 Hmmm. That's not a bad idea. Actually, if just got off the phone with Perris. They recommended having him do a walk-in on Sunday morning if he agrees to it Saturday night (I won't get to Perris til 8PM Sat 24 May). That way, I won't lose the deposit if he doesn't want to make the jump. All of you of course realize that if he agrees to make the jump, I'm going to want others to lurk along with me...
