AggieDave 6 #1 May 20, 2003 What sort of pick do you use and do you use a different style of pick for different styles of music? I've been trying out different picks everyonce in a while, trying to find something I really like. So far all I've found is that I like a harder pick, although I got a Jim Dunlap "Big Stubby" the other day and realized that I've passed the "good sounding hard pick" line...--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." lazerq3 0 #2 May 20, 2003 I always have used a medium pick or my fingers for a soft sound... reason being I feel like i'm flicking the string instead of struming or picking with a hard pick and soft pick is well too soft for me... but maybe I need to experimant like you!! jasonFreedom of speech includes volume

John4455 0 #5 May 20, 2003 Fender heavy's all the way. I don't like too much flex in a pick. How do ya like it Johnny?
Ricx 0 #6 May 20, 2003 I use anything that is avaliable to me including... plastic bank cards, coins, pen tops, nail clippers, finger nails, hard pastic things, when the going gets tough. I tend to lose plectrums on a daily basis! but generally a medium strength plectrum for the accuracy and a really thin one for stummy stuff. I've got a few specialisted ones that have jaggy edges on them that make cool sounds when stum in the right direction but at the end of the day I like to finger pick. BBKid 0 #7 May 20, 2003 I use a Dunlop 0.88mm (the matte purple kind - in case I got the thickness wrong) for almost everything, I just shift it around in my hand to alter the degree of flex. When I first discovered Led Zeppelin I used to use the 2-level kind Jimmy Page uses (don't know what they're called, sorry). They have a little lip all the way around, and they make a great scratchy noise just like Jimmy himself (without the talent, obviously) Nick --------------------------- "I've pierced my foot on a spike!!!"
