lippy 918 #1 May 20, 2003 So we're getting ready to exit on Sunday, 3-way RW and trying to find the DZ through a little 'industrial haze'. We're all looking for the DZ without too much luck, and the pilot is saying he has to descend right away, so this is jump run. So we're blind, trying to figure out where the hell the DZ is at, when all of a sudden it's spotted...WAYYYYYYY the fuck west of us. So much for the 3-way, we're going trackin'. I was last out, watched the other guys disappear through the clouds (which were above 9 grand) and just start tracking westward. We get out of the clouds and I immediately spot Andrew, far enough away that it's not a worry at this point. So now, my head's on a swivel for Dave. Where is he, where is he, oh shit that's a pilot chute, I'm dumping. I did flare out a bit, but I still had enough momentum that letting go of the PC was instant pain. I'm pretty sure my ribs are bruised, and my arms and legs are sore as hell too. And that's my story of stupidity from this weekend. I'm too sore to do much else right now, so I thought I'd share this with ya.I got nuthin
jtval 0 #2 May 20, 2003 glad thats all that happened. learning hurts sometimes but at least you know not to track through haze next time. I would pesronally rather land out then go blind through a cloud! get well fast!My photos My Videos
eeneR 3 #3 May 20, 2003 Um...was there any reason you HAD to get out of the plane? I dont know where I am getting out...im not getting out. There are only a few pilots I would trust to just "get out" in industrial haze... She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
lippy 918 #4 May 20, 2003 Quote Um...was there any reason you HAD to get out of the plane? Because the door was open? I do really trust that pilot, and if he'd said the spot was good I would've trusted him. He was open about being just as lost as the rest of us thoughI got nuthin
