Chris Colwell update

Recommended Posts

As many of you probably read, on April 23 2003. Chris Colwell was involved in a freefall collision at Skydive Deland. Chris sustained a fractured neck (c6 and C7)

Chris was transfered today to the VA spinal rehab center in Tampa (Ill add the address later when I get home I dont have it with me)

Chris is alert and responsive. He has gross movement in his arms and fine motor movement in 3 of his fingers on each hand. He has involuntary movement in his legs indicating he has nerve conduction

Chris is breathing with the assistance of a trach (a tube place in his neck) the staff at the rehab. stated their first goal is to re-establish independent breathing and feel this will happen in the near future

Mentally, Chris, as always, is on top of his game. he has a positive attitude and is ready to start getting better.

Chris is expected to be at the rehab for 6 weeks its unknown where he will be going after that.

Many of you also know, this Sunday May 25 Skydive Deland will be hosting a Get Better Boggie to raise money for Chris and his wife Nancy. There will be Raffles and Silent auctions. There is over $12,000 in merchandise and services to be given out. If you cant make the boogie, please call the DZ to purchase tickets.

Please help Chris and Nancy

Thank you very much for the update!

I haven't got a clue how I could do it, but I am really contemplating driving down there tomorrow night. Chris and Nancy are just plain awesome, and it's incredible how Bob and Company--hell, all of Deland--are taking care of their own.

Semper Fi!

If anyone has any questions about the donations or purchase of raffle tickets, please let me know. You can call Skydive Deland 1-386-738-3539 or call me at work (1-800-249-1542). Credit cards are accepted for raffle ticket purchases.

BIG prizes being given/auctioned away...canopies, tunnel time, coaching, pack jobs, etc. It's awesome seeing everyone come together on this.
