spidermonky 0 #1 May 25, 2003 I'm trying to install the game Enter the Matrix but it keeps giving me the attached CRC error. I tried using a different CDROM drive, restarting, emptying the 'Temp' folder, but nothing has worked. I cleaned the laser and the cd is new. I'd return it without thinking twice but I can access all the files on the CD, it just won't install them. Any ideas?
indyz 1 #2 May 25, 2003 Just because you can read the files doesn't mean that they aren't corrupted. Try installing on another computer if you can, otherwise I'd just take it back.
RevJim 0 #3 May 25, 2003 QuoteCRC error Hmmm. The only time I ever get that error is from bad iso images from Kazaa. Where did you get the disk? It's your life, live it! Karma RB#684 "Corcho", ASK#60, Muff#3520, NCB#398, NHDZ#4, C-33989, DG#
TattooedMoFo 0 #4 May 25, 2003 Never had that but it looks like a damaged disk. Take it back and get it replaced.
JumpingKayAus 0 #5 May 25, 2003 CRC, Cyclic Redundancy Check, is used to verify the validity/quality of the file. If it fails CRC, it usually means the file is corrupted and needs to be replaced, usually can't be fixed. I just exchanged it for another and it's still doing the same thing. I tried on another (MUCH slower) computer and it works fine!I have no idea what it could be. Zenister 0 #7 May 25, 2003 are you turning off your anti virus software BEFORE you install? some installers wont work correctly with it running..____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
JumpingKayAus 0 #8 May 25, 2003 This error should only occur when you do a full, custom install. If you click ignore when the CRC error pops up and run through the whole install, the effected Wizards will still work. It would appear that the problem isn't with a corrupted file, but the fact that the disk contains both a compressed copy in a .cab file and an uncompressed copy in the Serif folder. Let me know if this works.. ..g __________________________________________________________ -look fred, she's gotten her boobies!
FallingILweenie 0 #9 May 25, 2003 i've heard all versions of that game are VERY buggy, so it just could be the fact the game is not cooperating....
