flyhi 24 #1 May 26, 2003 What a great day yesterday was at Deland. Lots of people there supporting the Chris Caldwell Boogie. I get there early enough to be the second one registered ("We're jumping the big plane, Spike!") and got in on several excellent jumps. Carl Daugherty organized the RW and Hunter Roberts and Jimmy Tranter did the freeflyers. Carl put together a four way for the first one that got 12-points, meeting my definition for success (#-Way X Points ~= 50). Then an eight-way, a nine-way, and then I did two 12-way hybrids. I was wearing a camera on the first hybrid and at the end, saw a blur below me and going away. Slowed it down a little and realized it was Hunter tracking away from the formation. Very impressive. The raffles appeared to go very well also. They had the big ones ($10 a pop) and then hourly or so smaller ones. Two people who are soon to become close friends of mine each won 10 minutes in the tunnel during the smaller ones. The silent auctions were going well when I left. PD, Racer, Vector and several others had things on which to bid. Have included some pics of the people there. If anyone is offended by their picture, I blame it entirely on me for I have no skills. Sorry I didn't get Rdutch in. Saw him a couple of times, but he was moving at about Mach 1.8 and didn't have a chance to get a pic of him. Here's the first batch.Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
flyhi 24 #2 May 26, 2003 Talked to Nancy, Chris wife for awhile. She said Chris was doing well and very upbeat. He had spent an extended period sitting up in a wheelchair the previous day and felt good doing it. He is going to be allowed to get out more and Nancy said he was really looking forward to it. In the picture below, Nancy is wearing pants that Chris made her just recently. Also below is a person claiming to post as Phoschek here. Checked the roster and couldn't find her, but I figured she was too cute for you you guys not to see her. Also included TB99 below. I am an equal opportunity hottie poster. Shit happens. And it usually happens because of physics.
flyhi 24 #3 May 26, 2003 What would a trip to the DZ be if not for a trip to the bar. Here's a picture of Arlo and Skymama in the bar doing the hourly raffles. Arlo works at the tunnel and she worked her butt of yesterday at the raffle. The second shot is of Arlo and Phoschek. The picture does not do Arlo justice. She's another cutie. Very sorry I did not get a shot of Tsunami yesterday either. She was running around all day also. Thanks to all for doing a great job. Skydivers are cool. Peace out. Shit happens. skymama 37 #7 May 27, 2003 So, do you think the chance of me letting you keep that icky picture up will be increased by you putting a star around it? Just wanted to correct the screenname spelling for Gillian. She's "fozchek" in case anyone is trying to figure out who she is. She and Kolla keep us well informed with what is going on over at PD. The boogie was great and had a wonderful vibe to it all day. I didn't even mind that I couldn't jump that much, it was just nice to be around everyone being in such good spirits. We have a great, supportive family in Deland, and I'm so glad to call it my home dz. She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
