quade 4 #1 May 27, 2003 http://abclocal.go.com/kabc/sports/052703_sp_angels.html So, it occurs to me to ask . . . has Arizona Airspeed or the Golden Knights ever visited the White House after a World Meet victory? If not, then why not? It seems to me that the representatives of our sport in the U.S. -should- be doing so.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

quade 4 #3 May 27, 2003 I don't see it as a matter of being invited, but rather the USPA publicity department failing to put them in the situation -- if, in fact, that's the case.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
TheAnvil 0 #4 May 27, 2003 This is true. How about asking USPA why they haven't? It WOULD be good publicity for the sport, after all.... Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!!

TheAnvil 0 #6 May 27, 2003 Perhaps we could get a letter and have a bunch of us sign it....one at every dropzone, perhaps? Write a standard one, post it here, then we could get a bunch of signatures and send it in. Beers, Vinny Vinny the Anvil Post Traumatic Didn't Make The Lakers Syndrome is REAL JACKASS POWER!!!!!! Sebazz1 2 #7 May 27, 2003 Maybe we don't really want to attract any more attention to our sport be it positive or negative? Just a thought. You know the whole no go mainstream thingy...
quade 4 #8 May 27, 2003 Maybe, but then again, it really would be nice to get some funding for the team that represents our country in the international events.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
Sebazz1 2 #9 May 27, 2003 Curious if any USPA funding goes to supporting team USA's teams in skydiving?
quade 4 #10 May 27, 2003 Well, a bit, but not much. http://www.uspa.org/competition/trust_fund.htm The members of the teams get funds based on the interest of the trust -- and that ain't all that much.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

We have enough problems with money in this country without funding sports teams. We're not even going to be able to fund medicare, we're borrowing money from social security with no way to pay it back, and our debt is above 6 trillion - and rising by about a billion dollars _a_day_. robskydiv 0 #12 May 28, 2003 Please let us know what USPA says.
quade 4 #13 May 28, 2003 Sorry about that, not really certain you understood. I didn't mean US Governement Funding, but perhaps USOC Funding or something similar.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

I think you miss the point in a major way. People get invited to the White House to provide publicity for the President and photos for the next campaign, not the other way around. The press would yawn if Airspeed visited the White House. No votes there.... The only sure way to survive a canopy collision is not to have one.
