I'm taking my brother-in-law for a tandem in the next week or two. I'm looking at "Unwell" by Matchbox Twenty (at least the chorus) for the prejump footage and since he's a baptist preacher, I've found a blue-grassy "I'll fly away" for the jump. The plan is to sneak the tape to church the following Sunday and play it on the screen behind the pulpit when he starts the sermon. I don't go there so they can't run me off;) But, for a first jump vid, you should look at Unwell. I think that it will flow pretty good.

Attatched is the master list of the notebook of songs I made for our head vidiot to use for his videos. I made it last summer, so its a little outdated for new stuff, but its still got a lot of really good songs on it. (17 CDs worthB|).

The reason I put this, is that I think that all of the songs would work well on skydiving videos.

"Fly Away" by Lenny Kravitz. Some oldies like the Stones "Gimme Shelter", The Cars "Let the Good Times Roll". Anytime I hear the old 1978 "Baker Street" song by Gerry Rafferty the sax riff carries me back to DC-3 loads at the Nationals Boogie in Richmond, funny how music will do that.

Paul McCartney's "Band On the Run" is cool, "the rain was falling with a mighty crsh, as we fell into the sun. the first man said to the second man there, I hope you're havin' fun".

I love the Grateful Dead, but even I have to admit they're just tooooo laid back for freefall.

Slightly off topic but does anyone remember the band The Flys. They had one hit song out a few years ago and on the cover and insider art work of the CD the show freel flyers. I cant remember who was on the cover. I wouldnt put there music on a video..
I like anything by Moby or the Chemical Brothers and a band called Hum has some really good songs that would be perfect for videos.

also slightly off topic, but i had an MP3 related question to those that are technologically inclined.

I have recently taken to ripping the cd's i own to MP3's so that i could listen to music on my computer (i keep my cds in my car). I use the musicmatch jukebox to get the mp3s (it came installed in the pc and i havent bothered to download winamp or anything else), which works fine. The question i have is, how can i rip a cd as 1 giant mp3 instead of in separate tracks? I have some trance cd's that i would rather have as 1 giant track so as not to have the interruptions that come with having the tracks ripped seperately. any input as to a way of doing this either with what i have or with something i can download is much appreciated.

speaking of BT, why not "never gonna come back down"? Great song with chorus, "never gonna come back down to ground". Yay.

The words aren't really right, but "Eye in the Sky" (Alan Parsons Project) has always been tied to skydiving for me. Partly because I can't ever understand most of the words when they're sung, and the ones I can work really really well. It's not the videoman, it's the sky itself.

I am the eye in the sky
Looking at you
I can read your mind
I am the maker of rules
Dealing with fools
I can cheat you blind

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)

Good call, Wendy!B|

I have always enjoyed TAPP, but never thought to put that song to skydiving for some reason.:$ Really a good fit.

Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money.

Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?
