Cornholio 0 #1 June 2, 2003 I'm a contractor which means that I don't get the frills and benefits from my employer that I am contracted to nor the contracting company. I also have been diagnosed with Athsma and allergy problems. Other than that, I'm pretty darn healthy. So I tried to get insurance for myself some time back after my COBRA ran out (actually there was none, since my company filed for Bankruptcy) and I was denied due to an athsma medication, my allergies, and the fact that I've been to a rehab once or twice...okay 3 times!! But it's been almost 10 years since the last time I went to that country club. But the state of California has made a law that there has to be some insurance policy that will cover me provided that I meet certain requirements, such as being coverd by another company for the past 18 months, good standing with them...blah blah blah. So I am enrollled in this plan called HIPAA which is mediocre health insurance coverage Details HERE But it's costing me $265.00 a fucking month!!! That's like 10 jump tickets that I am overspending. I could see spending up to $100 for individual health insurance, but not that much. Someone please remove the shaft from my ass. So this is just a rant, I guess, but if anyone out there works for the health insurance companies or knows any tips to help me get cheaper health insurance with the same or better coverage, I'd be all over that like flies on shit. Cornholio 0 #3 June 2, 2003 Sorry bro, I've got serious problems with Kaiser. Let alone that my mother would have a heart attack if I told her that I had Kaiser. It's one thing to wait to be seen by a doctor, but to be treated like sheep or cows and be herded into seeing doctors and ump through hoops and shit... I know a few people that have had serious complications (even one died ) with Kaiser because of they way they do business. I'd rather pay 1000 instead of the 150 for Kaiser. Just a personal prefrence, if you will... Nope, nothing offered throgh my agency. they have things for their own employees, but I am but just a contractor. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! LouDiamond 1 #4 June 2, 2003 The military has a pretty good medical plan and all you have to do is fill out the paper work and raise your right hand. lummy 4 #5 June 2, 2003 it's all good. I've had a few different plans over the years, Kaiser is no means the best, but they all have their problems. dude, you REALLY want a PPO? No wonder it's so high. Been going to the same Dr for awhile? Does your DR belong to any HMO's? It'll save ya moneyI promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Cornholio 0 #6 June 2, 2003 I could go for an HMO. He's part of almost every plan I had in the past. A PPO/HMO/POS, it really doesn't matter as long as I am covered in the event of an accident, and I don't get raped in the deductible. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! lummy 4 #7 June 2, 2003 yeah, but you would like to be raped.... The only reason to have a PPO is if you have an out of network Dr that you want to continue seeing. Can you sign up for Bcross's HMO? check this one out. How much would this one cost you? Ya know what? Unless I'm reading it wrong. I think you're quoting $265 for HMO. the PPO is only 120 something.... (but they pay what, 40%?)I promise not to TP Davis under canopy.. Cornholio 0 #8 June 2, 2003 You're right, $265 is incorrect. The correct price is $267 !! LOL http://www.davefluker.com/bc_hiprate.html I'm in Area 3 I'm sure that BS or BC will not insure me for HMO or PPO. they are the ones that turned me down to begin with. Butthead: Whoa!
