jtval 0 #1 June 2, 2003 ok I've always doubted the speed on my protrack but now I know something it Fk'd. I jumped twice today from 10,000ft (cessna) the first time it only registered 4300 siad I opened at 2000 the second reigistered 7000 ft said I opene dat 2000. I was totally NOT relying on the thing but it was beeping at all the correct altitudes. Does anyone know WTF? (another anomoly) another jumper had the same problem with his protrack...jumped once and it didnt grab the correct cieling altitdude. maybe this has something to do with ....um....I dont know?My photos My Videos

Raefordite 0 #6 June 2, 2003 QuoteQuestion: Normally the 1,000 ft alarm sounds correctly, but yesterday it sounded much higher; nearly at 1,200 ft. and the warning alarms in freefall were also wrong. However, on the next jump everything was ok again. What happened to the PRO-TRACK? Answer: Probably, the unit was in Jump-Mode when you arrived at the DZ (altitude flashes once every 7 sec.). In this case you must perform manual zeroing before entering the airplane (see Instructions). The PRO-TRACK may sometimes go into Jump Mode when the barometric pressure changes quickly or if you drive in a mountanious area. The unit goes out of Jump Mode automatically after about 12 hours or after the next jump as in your case. http://www.l-and-b.dk/indexf.html The above is from the manufacturers web site. You may very well have a faulty unit. If you do, call or take it back to your dealer. They should exchange it. But before you bother anyone with a call, check out Larsen & Brusgaard's web site or e-mail them. It sounds like your unit is on economy mode. I have had this happen to a few others. It is easily fixed. Also, refer to your manual. Mads Larsen is outstanding to work with. They stand 100% behind their products for customer satisfaction. Give it a try! flyer299 0 #8 June 2, 2003 It is supposed to have 300 jumps on it, but you never know if a bad bunch of batteries were put in there... Try changing the Batteries, if that doesn't work, I hear L&B is great with customer service. I bet they will take care of you.
Cornholio 0 #9 June 2, 2003 300 jumps ?? Damn, I got about 120 or so on mine, and I have replaced them twice so far. I'm working off the third set now. And yes, it is in ECO mode, and I try to turn it off at the end of every jump day. Butthead: Whoa! Burritos for breakfast! Beavis: Yeah! Yeah! jtval 0 #12 June 2, 2003 QuoteQuoteit wasnt in jump mode when I pulled it out JT you just like to be all messy. HAHAH! Weid I thought of that too but it seems ood that it would do it so drastically. i mean 4300 then 7000 whe I jumped form 10000 both times then the second protrack has me all baffled! Im gonna replcae the batteries and see if that is the culprit! My photos My Videos

Luminous 0 #15 June 2, 2003 jump mode? economy mode? faulty workings when the batteries get low? manual zeroing? (as opposed to unmanual?). oh.. and how bout those itty-bitty springs you have to be sure not to lose when replacing the batteries. Man I love my Time-Out. 2 buttons (altitude up & down) and a low battery indicator tone. 'In an insane society a sane person seems insane.'
