skybytch 273 #5 June 3, 2003 QuoteI once had a deer hit my car too but it didn't do too much damage. I've hit two deer with cars. Coincidentally, both times were on the way home from the dz. First one was a big ol' buck who leapt off the side of the road right in front of me. I was driving a steel behemoth - '72 Dodge Dart - so the buck came out of the encounter far worse off than the car did. Second one was a doe standing on the side of the road. No idea why she decided to try to walk across the highway in front of me. I'd seen her a ways back, changed lanes and slowed down just in case. She still bent up the front header panel on my '68 Camaro though. Bitch. Congrats on the 100th jump!
Kris 0 #6 June 3, 2003 I feel your pain, Kelly. A deer ran out in front of me on the highway last month and did over $8000 in damage to my poor little red sports car. It was declared a total loss. Luckily, Jessica was nice enough to come get me and I still managed to hit the DZ in TX I was going to for the weekend. Just be glad you're uninjured. The car can be replaced.Sky, Muff Bro, Rodriguez Bro, and Bastion of Purity and Innocence!™

dterrick 0 #8 June 3, 2003 Bummer! When I read the header I immediately thought "that lucky BASTARD got to throw a car out of a big plane for his 100th" ... and then I read the rest. Silver lining indeed that just sucks. Hopefully you have decent insurance. aneblett 0 #9 June 3, 2003 Quoteso how does a deer hit a car?you ment the oppersit rigth? No Faber, I suspect she worded it that way on purpose. In my case the deer did hit my car as opposed to the other way. I does happen. I had seen the deer down the highway, there were 4 of them blocking the entire road. I slowed down in time to stop in front of where they were. Three of them bolted the rest of the way across the road. The fourth one hesitated for a second took a step sideways which now lined him up with my door and then bolted. Effectively running into my passenger side door. Then he jumped over the car and disappeared leaving only deer snot on the side of my car and some minor dents as proof that he had been there.. yep he hit me.. jtval 0 #15 June 3, 2003 congrats!! most accidents with deer are b/c they run into your car. it sucks! most of the time people will see one deer run across the road they'll slow down looking around hoping the deer has crossed (usually looking for the deer) then the other derr on the other side of the road runs out to get with the herd! BANG!! my father had that happen twice! (hes a hunter, maybe they were planning a hit!)My photos My Videos
AggieDave 6 #16 June 3, 2003 Ever see a Ranch Hand front end on a truck? (http://www.ranchhand.com). I've got buddies who grew up in he Texas hill country that have damn near exploded deer off the front of one of those things, not so much as damaging the guard, much less any other part of their truck. --"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
