Casch 0 #26 June 4, 2003 QuoteGuess I am just kind of a band nerd at heart I used to be a band nerd. I played the Tuba quite well for 6 years. I haven't played for 2 years now, but I bet I could still kick some ass wit' it

divingduck 0 #28 June 4, 2003 trumpet? great minds think alike (me too me too!) boyfriend (pliefer around dz.com) and I were both huge band nerds (unfortunately, I sure DID go to band came. thrice) and we are both really good friends with our band director...such a small world If I loved you anymore I would have a stroke
AggieDave 6 #29 June 4, 2003 Ok, I *was* going to bed...I will after this post, I promise. Do you still play? What do you play for a horn? Mouthpiece? I have a Bach Strad 37 with a Bobby Shrew #1 signature mouthpiece (think small, smaller then a Schilke 13a4a) that's great for a kickass sound while playing double A's and phat shakes. (can ya tell I play lead )--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline."
divingduck 0 #30 June 4, 2003 oh, trumpet players...you can spot them a mile away. Getzen Capri 500 or 1000, I think, bach 3 mouthpiece. go to bed! If I loved you anymore I would have a stroke
AggieDave 6 #31 June 4, 2003 I played a Bach 3 for a couple years, for that sort of hardware I prefer my Bach 1 1/2 C, it gives me a much fatter/thick sound...just sounds sooo cool when you're playing LOUD in an orchestra with a Bach that big. I haven't played in anything but a jazz band in 5 years, so I don't play on that mouthpiece much anymore...although I do pull it out when I really want to give my chops a workout, I'll go through some of the Arban's slurs with it. Talk about crapping out your chops and making them strong! hehehe, I went and say Maynard Ferguson in concert a couple months ago...talk about an old man that can still fucking scream his trumpet! *bowing to the trumpet god*--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." divingduck 0 #32 June 4, 2003 Well, I was doing marching band a lot, so that inspired me to get a better mouthpiece. I was actually taking french horn lessons this past term, but those were so time consuming... If I loved you anymore I would have a stroke
AggieDave 6 #33 June 4, 2003 For marching band stuff I really prefered a Bach 10 1/2 C. Those DCI folks play on huge hardware for outdoor playing, though, like 1 1/2 Cs and 3Cs. The 10 1/2C gave me a better sound in the upper regester while letting me keep a slightly fatter sound so I didn't stick out as much from the marching band. Playing double octaves on a bigger mouthpiece like a 3C or larger just doesn't sound as good. Damn, marching band is definately something I don't miss...didn't do it in college, obviously I did it in highschool. Heh, one of the Blue Devil's (DCI) scouts was hounding me to come play, but that was the end of highschool and I hated all things marching band at that point and just wanted to go to college...that and I didn't have the money to move to California to play...so two years later I became a skydiver instead. French horn is cool, but a hard intrument to make sound really good (well, I guess all instruments are that way, huh?).--"When I die, may I be surrounded by scattered chrome and burning gasoline." divingduck 0 #34 June 4, 2003 Well, in the long run, skydiving was a much better decision in place of marching band. I did it my first year here in college. And it sucked. And way to hijack the same thread AGAIN! How much beer do you owe me now? If I loved you anymore I would have a stroke
