Michele 1 #1 June 6, 2003 So this weekend (today, actually), I will go down to Elsinore for Bridging the Gap. It's all about learning and fun, getting better and understanding more. It should be really excellent. It starts with a seminar tonight, and goes through Sunday. I am not positive what to expect, but I know there will be a huge spike in my learning curve. I am tentatively expecting to do something on the order of 8 jumps... Seeing as I am not "young", seeing that I tend to fall pretty hard and get achy and bruised (I'm still bruised from Memorial Day, as an example), seeing that 8 jumps in a 3 day period (or 2 day, depending on how you look at it) has never happened for me, how am I going to make it through? And to top it off, I fell out of the bathtub last night - wham, flat onto my backside and back, and thumped my shoulder but good. Yes, this was a "beer" fall, and I'd love to blame the cats, but they were nowhere near. It's just my clumsy self coming to the fore. Besides no partying Saturday night, any one have any hints as to how to stay in the game the whole time? Any ideas? Tips? I will have a brand new bottle of Aleve on hand, but what else extra can I bring? Vallerina 2 #2 June 6, 2003 That sounds like fun, Michele! It also sounds like a great opportunity! Very cool! Quoteany one have any hints as to how to stay in the game the whole time? Any ideas? Tips? I will have a brand new bottle of Aleve on hand, but what else extra can I bring? Well...you'll hear this a few times....warm up and stretch in the morning....most importantly...stretch AFTER you're done, too! Drink plenty of water...take care of your body (eat something during the day) Sleep! My other tip (this worked for me at Rantoul when I did almost too many jumps for my body to handle) is to use a packer (grasshopper comes to mind...There's a thin line between Saturday night and Sunday morning
Michele 1 #3 June 6, 2003 Quoteuse a packer (grasshopper comes to mind... [Smile] ) Yes. He has already been contacted, and I know he will be making lots and lots of money this weekend...there are 43 registered folks coming, several from this site. And whaddya mean "eat"? Yeah, I know that's important, but I can't seem to remember it during the day. And I prolly should stretch, before and after. I don't usually do that, but I will try to remember that... Thanks, Val. tigra 0 #4 June 6, 2003 Don't forget the WATER! Seriously, lots of it! All of Val's advice was good. (I also have a tendency to "forget" to eat during the day- really not too smart. Keep a few of those "energy bars" with you, or some fruit, if you don't want to take the time to sit and eat a real meal!) Have fun! maura
Jessica 0 #5 June 6, 2003 Suck it up. Yes, drink water and eat properly and all that, but it's gonna hurt no matter what. But it's a GOOD hurt, and it won't be too bad until the weekend's over and who cares by then? Skydiving is for cool people only
tigra 0 #6 June 6, 2003 Another jumper once made the comment that she could tell how good her weekend was by counting up the bruises on Monday! That's logic only a skydiver can understand!
Michele 1 #7 June 6, 2003 QuoteThat's logic only a skydiver can understand! [Cool] LOL, yes, well, them Memorial day was spectacular - I still have two showing bruises from that, 2 weeks ago! Jess, I am not terribly good at sucking up....but I will try. I wonder what my clients on Monday will think of me as I cry getting in and out of the car... Muenkel 0 #8 June 6, 2003 Since I have no idea what you are talking about, I can't give advice. BTW, my homing pigeon will be looking for you at Elsinore. Chris _________________________________________ Chris
mouth 0 #9 June 6, 2003 QuoteI still have two showing bruises from that, 2 weeks ago! Girl, I still have several bruises showing too from that weekend. Not sure why I bruise so badly but I do. I'm sure I'll be hurting big time after the big way camp but it will be worth it. I've been told vitamin C and sunshine helps to make them less visible. I've been drinking Mimosas every morning and laying out by the pool every chance I get in hopes they were right. See ya in a few weeks I hope. Have fun this weekend. -- Hot Mama At least you know where you stand even if it is in a pile of shit.

So far the weather is looking good. Let's just hope that this excitement I have right now does not get overtaked by my anxiety.
