jessd 0 #1 June 6, 2003 I was supposed to go on vacation with 2 friends in late June. Our plan was to go to southern CA for a week and then spend a couple of days in Vegas. As we were online last night getting ready to book our flight, one of them backs out and decided that he does not really want to go on vacation right now. ARGH - we were supposed to be staying with his friends while in CA - now the other friend can't afford to spend money on a hotel for the week. So now I am stuck with 1 1/2 weeks off from work and no where to go. So, I am thinking of going on a short vacation alone. Has anyone ever done this? I have gone camping alone, but, not an actual vacation and am curious to hear other people's opinions on their solo vacations. I am still on student status so spending the time skydiving at another DZ is not really an option. JT - you called it. I'll never make it out there. PhreeZone 20 #3 June 6, 2003 Go to Perris... stay in the IHOP for $10 a day and skydive your ass off! You could be through AFF in 2 days.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
jessd 0 #4 June 6, 2003 How does that work if I have already started AFF. Would I have to start all over again? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."
PhreeZone 20 #5 June 6, 2003 Nope, they would look at your log book, figure out wherr you fit in their level system and off you go. Its just like continuing at your DZ, but you are in a different state and new instructors. Really cool thing... you could probally get your A licence in a week if you go to Perris. jessd 0 #7 June 7, 2003 I am actually considering doing this now. Which airport would I fly into to go to Perris? "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away..."
wmw999 2,593 #8 June 7, 2003 Fly to Ontario. And take the time to do other stuff as long as you're on vacation in SoCal too. Really. I've vacationed alone; I like it. jessd 0 #9 June 7, 2003 Thanks Wendy. I will look into it. There is still the small possibility that I will be vacationing with a friend or my sister. Does not look good though. I was really looking forward to going somewhere so I decided that I will go alone. Does anyone have any suggestions for other things to do in CA? I was out there last year but I spent most of the time driving down the coast from San Fran to San Diego - I did not really see/do too much. PhreeZone 20 #10 June 7, 2003 Talk to Mouth... shes headed out there the last week of June to do the same type of thing. Sightsee for a few days then jump for a few more. San Diego is fairly close, LA is'nt that far off... lots of wineryies in the area that I saw. Looked like hte boating on the lakes was popular too. Get ahold of people like Shark, Bytch, LtDiver, Quade, Billvon, Amy and a lot of others. They all live out there and can probally tell you good things to check out on a visit.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
