TheBile 0 #1 June 9, 2003 I've just confirmed a deal to purchase my new 4x4 vehicle. The only thing it didn't have was a CD Player. What are your recopmmendations for the best manufacturer of in-car CD players ? Do you have a preference for a specific model ? Help me decide people. Gerb I stir feelings in others they themselves don't understand. KA'CHOW !
highfly 0 #2 June 9, 2003 Get a MP3 compatable cd player with a disk changer in the boot. Easy to change disks and lots of music to choose from. www.myspace.com/durtymac
DYEVOUT 0 #3 June 9, 2003 I have a JVC with a 12 disc changer in the trunk (boot). Works really well (5 years old), but it's in a Neon, so it doesn't get much off-road abuse. I've always had excellent luck with Pioneer Supertuners on road and off. ----------------=8^)---------------------- "I think that was the wrong tennis court." falxori 0 #4 June 9, 2003 i have a pioneer one which is great. but these days it would be better to invest in a MP3 player. their prices have dropped and it will save you the trouble of changing CDs all the time.. grega 0 #5 June 9, 2003 Get Kenwood that can read MP3. They are a little more expensive, but they're good. Oh and what will you use the CD player for? just listening, for competitions, for ... ? that depends a lot which player is reasonable to get."George just lucky i guess!" Canuck278 0 #6 June 9, 2003 I just had a sony xplode mp3 put in my car......you can use the deck itself or connect it to a cd changer....seems to work great for me. Steve Therapy is expensive, popping bubble wrap is cheap.
dterrick 0 #7 June 9, 2003 ALPINE all the way. DO get the MP3/WMA capable machines # 9811/9813/9815 (depending on $s). I had a conventional CD head unit and 6 disc changer (that was pinched a month ago) - also a good setup but once you go MP3 (especially with the remote) you'll never wanna go back. Each CD you burn is like a 10 stack or betterDave Life is very short and there's no time for fussing and fighting my friend (Lennon/McCartney)
darkvapor 0 #8 June 9, 2003 I have the SONY MP-40 CD/MP3 deck. I definately agree on getting an MP3 capable system. You really don't even need a changer, since you can easily fit 130-150 mp3s on a single CD. I go for weeks at a time before changing CDs. I don't terribly like the Sony interface, but overall, its a decent deck with no complaints. I hear excellent things about the Alpines.

Well, it depends on the features you want and what you plan to do with it. Do you want MP3 capability? Is it for a daily driver or are you looking to really expand your system? Personally, I run a Pioneer DEH-P740MP as my source unit. It plays MP3's, has multi-changer control, XM satellite ready, digital EEQ, 4v pre-outs for front, rear & sub, and built-in two-way crossover with full subwoofer controls built in. This deck is a monster and does everything I ask of it. I have always been really impressed with Pioneer's Premier line and have never been disappointed. If you don't want to use an amp, the 50x4 built-in amp isn't too shabby. I believe it puts out 25-30 watts RMS a channel. Also, the fact that one of the screensavers is of skydivers (no kidding) doesn't hurt either. For other decks, you can't go wrong with Eclipse, Clarion, or Alpine. For my home theater, I run nothing but Sony, but I have never been impressed with their mobile-audio products. Sound Domain is an excellent vendor on the web that will not do you wrong. Crutchfield is okay, but their prices are outrageous.
