Laurel 0 #1 June 12, 2003 This past Saturday, I did my 1st CRW jump. 5-stack, 2-points. Case of beer was proudly bought and drank. See pictures below. Pic 1: completed 5-stack (I'm on the bottom - the only one with a pilot chute trailing behind me) Pic 2: my canopy collapsing - OY! (again I am on the bottom) Comments about me being on the bottom will be sent in vain since I am calling it out on the onset...................................................................... TheRus 0 #2 June 12, 2003 Was this over at Gold Coast? Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine You my friend, I will defend... and if we change, well, I love you anyway

jerm 0 #5 June 12, 2003 Quoteyep - the Toadsuckers CRW team was in town and graciously let me jump with them. What an honor. Careful.. i think it's "Them Toadsuckers" congrats!! i'm doing a CRW camp this weekend.. should be a blast!! -jerm ps. you can apparently fly well in the air.. what gives with the landings? Landing without injury is not necessarily evidence that you didn't fuck up... it just means you got away with it this time
MrHixxx 0 #6 June 12, 2003 Cool, check you out Dog... I had done one 2-stack and a down plane before showing up at Emerald Coast a few years ago. I ran into a guy there who wanted to do CRW at the end of our RW jumps and we had to pull high over the beach anyway. So, we were landing 2-stacks into the Florabama Bar and Grill all day. It was a blast! Now I just need to find someone to do CRW with my Xaos. Hell, it has continuous centerlines. Must be a CRW canopy right? -Hixxxdeath,as men call him, ends what they call men -but beauty is more now than dying’s when
TheRus 0 #7 June 12, 2003 Hell yeah! I was wondering what it looked like jumping there. Dammit... July is too far away! Yeah, it's fine, we'll walk down the line. Leave our rain, a cold trade for warm sunshine You my friend, I will defend... and if we change, well, I love you anyway
sunnydee123 0 #8 June 12, 2003 Congrats ~ I saw Keith MacBeth do some CREW stuff earlier this year and fell even more in love with my canopy. I'll get on some of that down the road - canopy control class with Scott Miller at PD is the first step....hee hee Have fun...be safe! Dreams become reality, one choice at a time... EricaH 0 #9 June 12, 2003 Great for you Laurel!! That's awesome!!! CReW is the only thing that honestly scares me - way to go!! stupid newbie question... where are the other pilot chutes? There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. PMS #227 (just like the TV show)
PhreeZone 20 #10 June 12, 2003 Lightnings normally have retractible PC's so they can't get in any one elses canopy. I love CRW. Now if most the wussies I jump with (Vallerina, Wildblue, Cajun) were'nt terrified of a simple stack I'd do CRW every jump Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
Laurel 0 #11 June 12, 2003 "stupid newbie question... where are the other pilot chutes?" Not a stupid question - CRW canopies (i.e. Lightning)have retractable pilot chutes...................................................................... Laurel 0 #12 June 12, 2003 "ps. you can apparently fly well in the air.. what gives with the landings?" I am overly conservative with turns too close to the ground and I have a tendency to flair too high. I'll get it one day...................................................................... skymama 37 #13 June 12, 2003 Very impressive, Laurel. I can say CRW is one thing I'll probably never try my hand at. I admire people who do.She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
ERICCONNELLY 0 #14 June 12, 2003 Not too bad for an ignorant southern gal... (Now git back to yer trailer fer some daddy lovin') Seriously, my first CRW jump scared the SH*T out of me and I loved it. It was just like the first time all over again.

skycop 0 #17 June 12, 2003 Congrats! On my first CREW jump i was scared shitless, and that was a two stack!! Very gutsy going for a 5 stack on your first one!! "Just 'cause I'm simple, don't mean I'm stewpid!"
Shark 0 #18 June 12, 2003 Laurel, Congratulations! Heck, docking 5th is no easy task either. Your CCR/CCS is next. I have a novice camp scheduled on the 21st, but it looks like interest is waning. BTW, what kind of canopy were you using? It looks like my Spectre.sHarK CCS-1242
Laurel 0 #19 June 12, 2003 QuoteBTW, what kind of canopy were you using? It looks like my Spectre.sHarK CCS-1242 I was using my Sabre. Next time, I am going to try a Lightning so I don't rock the whole formation again. My canopy did not like being on bottom. Plus, when my slider went all the way to the top and collapsed my canopy, it was a bit freaky. But I felt safe (as safe as you can feel doing CRW) because Toadsuckers are some of the best CRW dogs in the world. I can't wait to do it again...................................................................... PMS#28, Pelogrande Rodriguez#1074 My Pink M

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #21 June 12, 2003 Mark, I think that I MAY want to try this someday, but waaaay later. You let me know when you think that I'm ready. BTW, Laurel, you ROCK, girl! The last 2 jumpers I trained are now moved. We used to do a downplane almost every load when I started jumping. With the newer canopies, impromptu CrW hardly ever happens anymore. I have to use my 'CrW rig' for CrW now, since my regular canopy is way too hot for it. In my DZ, there is no 'slapping it together' after a jump. It's always planned out as a CrW dive from the outset. Too much caution. WAY TO GO LAUREL! Every single skydiving discipline is a blast. You now have another. ...
