Night Jump Gear

Recommended Posts

Just picked up a very cool new product last night.

Check out the Inova 24/7.

I don't think I'd use this as a replacement to a strobe since it's a little too narrow a beam for that, but it sure would make for an interesting addition to the glow sticks and other night effects. Almost as bright as the strobe light though if viewed on-axis.

I saw something really kewl when we did night jumps at Snohomish, One guy popped a light stick and it got all over his jeans... still glowing... I wonder how that would work on a set of gloves and still have the sticks on helmet and Alti. Oh and the new Glow in the dark Alti III Galaxy is TOO KEWL mine is Chili Pepper Red:)

If you break open a glow stick the material inside will continue to glow, but will not last anywhere near as long as if had stayed inside the tube. It will also stain most clothing and even some non-porous surfaces like, um, bathroom sinks and stuff . . . however, for the most part it's pretty harmless stuff and non-toxic.

I paid something like $40 for it at Fry's in the L.A. area. It comes with a neck lanyard, but not the headband, which would be fully cool as a night light for camping or spelunking. They didn't sell the headband at Fry's either. I think it's too new of a product. Inova just updated their web site today to include this product.

Sony makes an IR LED light. I have a couple but for some stupid reason I've never had the opportunity to jump them. Something always comes up. Like this weekend would be perfect except it's a "team" weekend.

I'm probably going to sell my MA2-30 on eBay soon. Just saw one go for $250 (Para Gear wants $550 for it). I don't do night jumps often enough to justify keeping it around. besides, I need the funds to replace the alti I had stolen at Perris. :(

Quade. Tell us the most-excellent un-boring story that goes along with this knowledge.

I want to know how you stained clothing in a bathroom, also staining the sink and toilet, with broken-open glowsticks.

Or maybe you just had to retrieve some of those whacky network personalities from one of their bathroom glowstick parties?

yeah, probably should think of selling it soon. I think I might be stuck with mine, since Alti-2 has the new glow in the dark thing out. Actually, I like the glow in the dark thing better than the MA2 because the latter is so much more heavy. It's like tying a brick to my hand. hehe
