I work for a company cleaning up Rocky Flats here in Colorado and know quite abit about what a small amount of bad "stuff" can do to the immediate enivironment. Even a small nuclear war would really mess things up worldwide. Personally, as bad as it is, I think thats whats going to eventually happen. I mean shoot - people are flying 50 square foot canopies. Nothing is out of the realm of possibilities and someone will eventually become so pissed off with someone else (most likely someone angry with the good ol USA) and decide that pushing the green button is no big deal. Its great to be human but man, does it ever suck. Greed greed greed. It is the Palastinians that want "their" land back. The Jewish tribe settled down shortly after Abraham & Sarah (see my eariler post), it the area that is now know as Isreal. Many many times they were kicked out, dragged away & simply over ruled. From Pharoe, Cesar, the Byzantines & the Crusades - the Hebrew faith was spread accross the world because of this. While they were away from their "home" the gentiles (Palastine/Babalonians) would move in. It is this that causes the fighting & why it will not cease. In the old city walls of Jerusalem, there are 3 faiths living rather peacefully together, Hebrew, Christian & Muslim - rather than fighting for complete control... learning to live together in peace is a better answer. However each faith has been told by it's god that it is will rule the world - that's because it is the same God (IMHO). There is no can't. Only lack of knowledge or fear. Only you can fix your fear. They may have morphed over time due to situational and environmental variables not to mention different education methodologies, but really when you get down to the nuts and bolts of it - there are so many freakin similarities among the different religions out there. I really do think that all religions were conjured up in some form or another by humans themselves to explain the unexplainable. There are so many examples of this in history from day one forward. The problem is, people in poor economic environments need something to hold onto, and religion is technically free. It makes life worth living for those that couldn't seem to find anything else. I personally find my god (lowercase g on PURPOSE) in the mountains on a fat powder day or at the DZ when people are really welcoming each other and make it a point to make everyone as happy as possible on a given day. If I didn't have a house payment and the desire to contiune freefallin, I'd quit it all and go on a crusade to promote my belief system - it might just be the one where everyone could essentially agree. god comes in many many many many different forms, if you want to call him God to distinugish yourself from other religions out there, show me why your religion holds any more water then the next. If that was the case then the palistinians would have a leg to stand on for this arguement. Still you can't recruit thousands of people (idiots) to go and complete suicide missions simply because of a disagreement over land. Think about it. Once they do their part they are dead and can't live to reap the rewards. No, their motivation has to be some ridiculous religious prize. I don't know how many virgins they are supposed to get or what about some story about living in a place with the sky made of wine. So since this is indeed about religion and the Jewish faith was the first religion there, I believe the muslims do NOT have a leg to stand on.If I could make a wish, I think I'd pass. As Freakydiver referred to, religon is free & many people need some kind of crutch to stand on (I am one of them). How can we be in this world all alone, how can no one be "in control" type thinking. There are very few true Babalonians & Palastinans left, most have turned to the Muslim faith. The Jewish tribe, after finding their God, became Hebrew. When Abram had a child by Sarai their names changed to Abraham & Sarah, the "H" means the breath of God - Hebrew is ruach - the Holy Spirit. It is about land, but it is about dividing the land between 2 faiths that both lay claim to the the "Land of Milk & Honey" Both have 2 legs to stand on. I, have chosen Christianity as my faith.... I guess I ate the mushrooms too . However, when compairing all 3 religons various books... there are way too many similarities. But when, you expect a people (Mulsims & other more radical sects of many religons) that take being seperate from the world very seriously - reasons for their being "centuries behind" & ask them to put aside their faith & live in a "civilized" world... one where you have to TOLLERATE others... war is the only answer in their mind.
